"Contagion" focuses on what could happen in the event of an outbreak of a highly infectious and lethal disease. It's not action and explosion driven. It uses realistic situations (workers strikes, union strikes, lack of communication in and between governments and organizations), tension, and drama to progress the story-line to a believable, open-ended conclusion. I wasn't wowed by any particular scene in the movie, but the overall experience was gripping and thought provoking. What would I do in that situation? How would our government actually react? How many people on the Internet blow smoke to make cash, and how many would take advantage of that sort of situation to make money? Once people started dying and public services started failing, would society collapse? Or would some semblance of order remain?
