Q: Best Deal on PC?

I need to look into purchasing a device where I can start writing without going to the library all the time. I have stories to finish and content writing to do, and it's not always easy with an hour or so a day as my time frame.

PC vs. Tablet - can I write well on a tablet, is that something more suited to a laptop? I don't have much experience with a tablet except using one program on an iPad for a job I used to have. I need to keep it cost-effective, too.

Any suggestions?

Youre going to want a mechanical keyboard such as that on a laptop not a tablet. You dont need anything fancy. You average $250-300 laptop will do what you need an more.

Yeah definately try one out. The track pad on some of them are just horrendous. I prefer HP over any for feel. Well Samsung also. Toshiba and Acer just feel so cheap in your hands.

If your budget is really tight, I suggest buying a used older model IBM Thinkpad. The keyboards are best in class for laptops, and it should hold up like a tank.

I use thinkpads and have gotten most of my immediate/extended family hooked on them. It should be pretty easy to find an older model for $100-200 dollars that will be far more powerful than any tablet currently available.

you might want to try an asus tablet and keyboard combo. you have the option of using it in tablet mode and a keyboard and trackpad for typing. its not for everyone.

I think for writing purposes laptop is the best option. But if you are a busy business person, you can choose a tablet. But you asked for a cost-effective option, so I think laptop is best suited for you. You can just get a great laptop like Apple within $300-$350.
