Q: How to get on the front page?

I've had nothing make it to the front page, while others will have several at a time. What's the deal?

umm, that has not been the criteria of late... and if i type out loud what i really think, it'll get worse.

It's all about timing I suppose. Get in fast on a hot deal and you have a better chance.

i guess i'd like to see things back as B4 - i've become VERY stingy with my plusses and comments. as a money maker, why would i want to plus someone elses deals? :P

I'm also very reluctant to plus sometimes. Sometimes I see the exact same deal in the "More Deals in XXXX" section, and I'm unsure if they deserve the plus, or if the one I'm currently looking at deserves the plus. On one hand, the other deal was posted earlier, but somehow the later deal (the one I'm looking at) has more plusses. I decided it would be best not to plus either deal out of worry and guilt for possibly screwing over someone haha. Of course I don't remember what deal in particular I'm referring to, but what the heck do I do in case this happens again?!

i just wish there was a "spelled out" criteria. even today, 5 people posted that george foreman grill, why did the last one make the FP when there was even a post from a month ago with ALL the colors and the shipping was FREE.

on a side note Kevin, we're at the mercy of those who decide what's hot and what isn't - and if mods are doing the program too, oy.

hmm..yeah..i can see how the info i posted before is a bit outdated, however i still feel that part of it is relevant. to be honest..sometimes it seems totally subjective. i've seen so many good deals go unnoticed just because of the time they post it, and then someone else posts the same deal at a time where everyone's online..and BLAM!..fronted. i wonder...

It's a combination of a hot deal + timing. I've also noticed the type of crowd dealspl.us has so you have to factor that in. Having lots of plus's on a deal does not guarantee front page.

What I would like is to be able to see WHO plusses the deals.
I have seen some really sketchy FRONT PAGE deals.

I think some people are playing favorites, or opening up bogus accounts and giving pluses to themselves.

@livebetter: i think the mods have a way of trying to screen for multiple accounts. hopefully what you said isn't happening, but who knows..it's possible.
