You should definitely do it! You can cancel your membership at any time and get free movies for one whole month plus $30 from DP! It is great! Bill and I do it and watch movies every weekend. The excellent thing is that when you get your movies in the mail you can swap them out for new release in store for FREE!! So you can rent 3 new movies for free in store when you swap them out, just be sure to select 3 movies at a time when you sign up so you can receive 3 movies all at once. Saves a lot of money when you watch lots of movies. They even have Baby Einstein shows for babies and kids. DD loves them. If you don't have paypal it is easy to setup an account..just let DP know that it will take a few days for paypal verification. Paypal is safe and is helpful when you don't want to disclose you credit card information to a certain site.

I also got this. I signed up already and sent the confirmation to DealsPlus. My mom doesn't watch too many movies, but there were a few that she wanted to see, so this will be a nice chance for her to watch some movies, since she doesn't go out to watch. I figure I'll use the $30 DealsPlus paypals to buy her something else. I'm thinking a NAP blanket or something from Brookstones! Thanks DealsPlus! =) Happy Mothers Day everyone!

Oh, it’s that time of year again. When we should all honor and pay the respect to the ones who brought us into this world. Our mother. There is only but one mother for each of us, and that’s the only one you will ever have. Don't let that go to waste, tell her you love her and how much you care for what she has done for you in your life and hers. My mother has done so much, so much you couldn’t have asked this of anyone other then a mother, for the load of this task would not be dealt with in the right manner, only the love of a mother could complete this enormous of a task. To care and love a little boy, on her own with no help from anyone. This is a real thing in today’s world. Just a mother and her child, alone against the world. This is how my mother and I lived all our lives. The mother taking care of her child. Well I have to tell you as the years past and the ages grew the roll begin to change. It was now the child’s turn. For the past two years I have cared for my mother. She has had many seizers and shattered her left wrist. This has left her in a sate of not being able to totally care for her self, and I mean that not in as so much a physical way as a financial way, but there are always physical limitations. So this is my life, the life of a 21 year old male, just taking care of the only person that would step up and take care of me when no one else would. That’s me now.... That’s me today, and there’s nothing more grateful then telling her I love you. Although it would be nice to send us on a cruise, just somewhere that a son can show his mother how much she means to him. Thank you. And tell your mother how much she means to you this may 13th!!!

I don't see why people think that giving your mother a digital camera is a bad idea. I mean, it's mother's day, how can a digital camera be an ungenerous gift? Keep in mind, this is meant for the MOTHER and not for self profit.

I think some of the best gifts would be things like gift certificates/gift cards for things you can do together - lunch, museums, parks/picnics, a play or concert w/ dinner, a small weekend getaway, etc. Things can get cluttered with too much stuff. Although, I do think my mom (NJoy) would really enjoy a Nintendo DS. She's hoping to win one here though :)

Well i didnt go through all the posts, but might want to add watches to the list? I gave my mom the shuffle i won, so ipod is out of hte picture, She always wanted those little tv's that you could have in your kitchen, the ones that hang under your counter. I dont think those are too much.

well i think i finally decided what i'm doing for her this year - I'm going to take her to this great restuarant that serves a cajun-style brunch (even has a live jazz band that plays during brunch), then on to the Botanical Gardens, where they have an orchid and butterfly exhibit. i think she'll love it. walking around a garden while butterflies fly all around your head. some great photo oppurtunities....

a great family picture taken of all the kids and grandkids in an awesome frame. something my brother and I did for my mom last year was make a scrapbook of her, pics from when she was little, her parents, brothers and sisters and right up thru pics of her grandkids. We also made a quilt, picked out 9 of our favorite pics of us with her and had them put on fabric and then built the quilt around it. She cried so we know she loved it!!

I celebrated mothers day for my wife by planning a suprise half day off from work. I called her boss and told him about my plan, asked if she could get half the day off, he said abosolutely and he would keep quiet. Next I called 4 of her friends and arranged for them to join the suprise. Then I arranged to have a limo show up at work at lunch time, as they were waiting the receiptionist paged her to the lobby. There was the limo driver with a dozen roses I had purchased. He said he was there to take her to lunch with her friends. I had gone to the resturant and given them my credit card when I made reservations. I had them reserve a specific table, pre-ordered the appetizer ( but not the entree - my wife hates when someone orders her entree), gave them the credit card and told them I wanted to make sure my wife got white glove treatment - charge whatever they ordered and add a 20% tip, mail me the receipt. The resturant was happy to help and the staff was great knowing they were getting a 20% tip before lunch even started. It was a BYOB resturant so I bought wine and had it waiting in the limo and the driver was instructed to bring the wine into the resturant, hold the door for the ladies, check on their reservations, basically act like a personal man servant and not just a driver. I paid and tipped him in advance as well. After lunch my wife and her good friend were back in the limo, but it did not go to work. It took them to a day spa. I had arranged for massage, pedicure, manicure, facial, etc.. I pre-paid and pre-tipped, spoke the the spa manager to ensure that the ladies would never have to pull out money and if they did offer a tip, it would be denied politely and explained that all had been taken care of. I also made sure that the two would get the same treatment at the same time and that the wine left from lunch would be kept chilled and served at the spa. The limo brought them home at the end of the day. I had planned to make dinner but I didnt want to risk it, so I had dinner catered by a gourmet resturant. She was VERY happy. She was treated like a queen by everyone she encountered, they waited on her hand and foot, she was like a celeb never having to pay or tip, she had her own entourage, and all her friends and office knew about and talked about it for the few weeks.

I don't get to see my mom much, she and I don't live in the same state. I always make Mothers Day special by really spoiling her. One of the gifts I had planned was a Pajama Gram. Mom's always love new jammies. www.pajamagram.com and she always gets flowers on Mothers Day and as an extention of Mothers Day I also send her flowers on my birthday since she did all the work the day I was born. What a way to show mom you love her with two days of honor each year.

Mom's always say something like, "I don't need anything"...but Mom should HAVE everything! I'd best most Mom's would love some quiet time (just to relax) when she has SMALL children. When the kids are more grown, Mom's want to spend more time with the kids who are always out with their friends, or out of the house entirely.

Gift certificates to day spas are one of my favorites! Or just gift certificates of your own personal service: i.e. my parents always seem to have chores (moving stuff, painting, help with house renovations, etc.) they would like assistance with. I have a busy life of my own (kids, pets, whole catastrophe!), so making time to help them out is not always my #1 priority, but, if a gift, I'm sure to make the appointment and stick with it and do a good job, as if I were a paid worker. Works for us!

I scored twice when I suprised my mother-in-law with the gift of doing all their yard work while they were away. They came home to find the yard done just they way they like it and a nice flower in a flower pot with a mothers day card just from me. She thought that was the best I would treat her like my own mom, and I did it because I do care that much.

From what I've seen, many women absolutly love clothes and jewlery (which is pretty obvious). Gift cards of some kind would be nice, such as a gift card to JCPenny, or Macys, etc. (all of those popular shopping stores). And as for jewlery shops, I can't really think of any store which many people have access to.

a couple of years ago I got my moms car detailed while she was at work. Got a copy of the keys from Dad, took the car to the detail shop. I was sweating it out that it would be done in time but wanted it to be perfect. I got the shop to give me a couple of rags and some extra cleaning stuff just in case anything got on the tires or a bird took target practice on the way home. She got done work and came out to not only see her car beautifully detailed, but also got to show off her mothers day gift to all her friends at work. Bonus pts for giving mothers day presents at work so mom can beam with pride and show off how much her kids care.

The most suprised my mother ever was on mothers day was when I gave her a completely unexpected gift, she found out she was going to be a grandmother for the first time. Floored her, she couldnt believe it or that we held back till mothers day. My daughter was the only grand child on both sides for 4 years. And to top it off I named my daughter after my mom.

I got a hold of all of the family videos and photos and transfered them to DVD. Added music, comments, titles. I made an extra copy for everyone in the family but gave them all to my mom so she could hand them out. She loved it! Not only did it protect them memories and share them through the whole family but it was a great exscuse to watch old videos and laugh till we cried. She handed out the copies to everyone as they came to visit, and each time got to relive some memories with each person.

My mom would love an iPod video/nano! She loves her music. She would also love a nice massage chair as she has arthritis and a lot of back pain, and that would soothe her aches. My mom would also love a shopping spree to any clothing store (Macys, Sears) because she loves to shop! Those are my ideas. Not original but stuff that she wants.

I think my mom deserves a hot tub with lots massaging jets to help with the back aches and pains from bending over to pick up 2 decades worth of toys and dirty clothes my brother and I managed to leave lying around; to help the knee pain that comes from years of bending down to kiss our cuts and scraps; the neck pain that comes from worrying about us when we were late coming home on rainy nights; and the shoulder and arm aches from always being there with arms open wide to hug us and hold us tight...that no matter how scary the world could be, we were safe in those arms.

As my mother likes to travel, a cruise or other trip would be great, but, as I can't afford that, I will opt for a few other things that she enjoys. Getting together for either a nice brunch, or cookout with the family and spending some time together is nice as everyone is usually so busy and we don't get to spend much time together. Then a gift of flowers - several hanging baskets and pots filled with flowers, or maybe a rosebush or other flowering plant for the garden are things that last and can be enjoyed over the whole summer. Add a garden statue, fountain, or trellis, and a nice card and I've hopefully helped to make my Mother's day an enjoyable one! Here's a few other ideas: A few bottles of her favorite wines and some nice wine glasses would make a nice gift. Or maybe a wine of the month subscription so she could try new wines throughout the year. If she likes to cook, some cooking classes or gift certificates to specialty cooking stores. If she likes gardening, a basket filled with garden tools and a gift certificate to a local nursery. Or if she is artistic or crafty, a basket filled with art supplies, scrapbooking materials, etc. and a gift certificate to an art store, or for art lessons. If your mom needs some relaxing and pampering, a basket filled with bath items, lotions, her favorite music, candles, and chocolates.

Some of these might be mentioned or on the list already, but here is what I think are good mother's day gifts: -Cruise (I'm pretty sure all Mom's could take a few days off and enjoy a nice relaxing cruise) -Spa/Massage (A nice day at the Spa is relaxing, but not always for everyone) -Flowers (Flowers of course are always a great way to start off Mother's day) -A nice home cooked breakfast (Surprise your mom and show her you care by planning and making a nice breakfast!) -Scrapbook (A nice collection of photos with personalized messages on each page in a scrapbook format would make all mother's happy) -A Laminated Poem (Write her a poem and get it specially printed and laminated or get it carved into a crystal plaque) -Jewelry (Bracelet, necklace, ring, earrings, maybe even a watch. Show her you care) -Gift basket (Food/Lotion/Beauty Products/etc) -Gift Card to places she shops (Sometimes mother's just want clothes) That's all I can think of for now. I'll add more as I come up with more things.

Idea #1: Last year I made my mother and grandmother a full breakfast thing including mimosa (so it was eggs, bacons, bagels w/ cream cheese, lox, and and capers plus there were some other more lunch type items that I can't remember). I won't be around this Mother's Day though, so if I could get some gift certificates for restaurants.com or some place where I can buy gift cards for a local brunch then that would be not quite as good, but still pretty nice. My mom's been wanting a DS Lite, but that doesn't seem at all like an appropriate mother's day gift card. And she's gotten gift cards for spas/massages before and has never had time to use them. A Roomba might be nice, since she rarely has time to vaccuum, but I've discussed that idea with her before and due to my two year old niece visiting her a lot, the floor tends to be too messy for a Roomba to work well. Which brings me to idea number 2: A gift certificate for a day/week of maid cleaning service to take care of all the spring cleaning needs of her house. Again, she tends to be rather busy so she hasn't really had the time to do a proper spring cleaning in a few years.
