AT&T says thank you with 1000 bonus minutes

**Update 3/1/11 - looks like ATT is starting to fulfill these now. Received my text message earlier today stating the minutes have been added to my account**

Text "YES" to 11113020 and receive 1000 rollover minutes! Worked for me!

4 Weeks to receive minutes in account.

After following the instruction yesterday, I received a text that it will take 4 weeks to process and then today I received an obscene text coming from 1111**** which is the first for me.I believe this is scam and I wonder how to get my number off or unsubscribe.

I don't see the big deal with AT&T. I switched from Verizon to them, and have much better reception and much better customer service. I had dropped calls and struggled to get 2 bars with Verizon.

I have never had bad customer service with at&t, they aren't quite as good as sprint but with at&t I have much better coverage so it kind of balances out. Very glad to get the extra minutes!

I switched to Verizon in October after 11 years at AT&T. No more dropped calls! I wouldn't go back for 100,000 free minutes... horrible service and customer service.

This just proves AT&T has a terrible customer service department. I've had so many problems with them not knowing anything! They are either untrained, or over-trained to pretend to act dumb to make more money for company. Good deal if you aren't already loaded down with rollover min tho'

I appreciate their deal, but leave it to ATT to mess up a great promotion by creating confusion. Would it have killed them to put something on their website?

They are saying on Twitter that it is for iPhones only so you might get a confirmation on any phone but you might not get the free minutes if you are not on an iPhone

Interesting as the ATT rep told me any phone would qualify. Although if I talked to a different rep I would probably get a different answer.

I've read in some of the posts that it gives you the 1000 rollover minutes but it also extends your contract for two years.

PLUSME Feb 11, 2011
I think you're probably reading the wrong posts. They cannot extend your contract by just texting "yes"

I wouldn't be surprised. They're doing it to keep iPhone users with them and keep them from switching to Verizon. How is just giving you a couple lousy minutes going to keep people from jumping ship unless they extend contracts to keep you on board?
vote
ragingwookiee Feb 11, 2011
Agree with PLUSME. A text isn't a contract. Plus ATT reps have already shot this thought down.

Disappoint as it may be but the law doesn't see it that way. Ever notice the fine print on the commercials trying to tell you if you're more like Vinny or Snookie from the Jersey Shore? All you have to do is text ##### and find out! Well, the fine print is that you're going to get charged 10 dollars a month to your phone bill but activating the service from one simple text to that number.

GiveMeBargains Feb 11, 2011
Someone try it with a Verizon or Sprint phone and see what happens. Bet it works too.

GiveMeBargains Feb 11, 2011
Are we 100% sure this isn't some scam where we'll all see a $9.95 charge on our next bill for accepting some kind of opt in deal from some spammer? AT&T seems to know nothing of it if you call and ask.

ragingwookiee Feb 11, 2011
It's not a scam. Multiple sources (including me) have confirmed this direct with ATT. You can call and verify yourself or email ATTCustomerCare@att.com.

Don't you have to buy the unlimited package for an i-phone anyway?

Nope. I only have 250 minutes with my plan.

I actually got a text 2 days ago about this. I have way too much rollover minutes. They should give us some other incentives like cash or at&t credit.

PLUSME, i absolutely agree. all of my long conversations are either on nights, weekends, or with other at&t users. i have more rollover minutes than i know what to do with!
