For those of you who are getting the magazine, the first issue is usually free anyway, and when your mag. comes in, go online and hit manage you subscrip. (sometimes it is says something diff.) but anyway go in there and follow the directions to cancel...really simple and you wont receive any more issues. And It really IS NOT a scam. Good luck to all.

why did so many people subscribe to the magazine? it was pretty clearly marked how to enter without subscribing. why would you put in your credit card information if you didnt want to buy anything? if you're stuck with the magazine, you kinda deserve it in my opinion

You don't have to put in your credit card information to "subscribe."

Hm. I found the link so that you didn't have to subscribe but I tried submitting before seeing it. It had that "One Moment Please" going and when I tried doing it again w/o subscribing, it said I couldn't enter the sweepstakes twice. Did anyone receive an email?
Any ideas on how to cancel the subscription assuming it went through? :/

You have to READ WHAT THE POSTING SAYS people, stop complaining about scams if you don't take the time to look at what your are filling out. The OP has instructions on where to click for the "No Purchase Necessary" part and if you just read what you are filling out you'd see it too.

The very last thing before entering your info is a link to bypass the subscription clearly stated in plain english. There's even a black box around it and "No purchase is necessary to enter" is in bold. Click where it tells you to.

Nowhere on the page does it say "No purchase is necessary." I even did a word search. I read everything the posting said and was still signed up for the magazine.

Thank you for the great freebie. I am BIG into freebies and tweet them out all the time. My facebook friends are 5,010 and twitter is 2,500. The deal worked fine for me, there is a place that states if you DON'T want the magazine click here. I guess people are just overlooking it. Again thanks!

It has instructions on how to enter with subscribing:

No purchase is necessary to enter. If you'd prefer to enter the sweepstakes without starting a trial subscription to Good Housekeeping or if you are already a subscriber, you need to click where it says click here on the entry form page.

I received this message

"THANK YOU FOR ENTERING THE SWEEPSTAKES!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ORDER! We have accepted your subscription for Good Housekeeping and will bill you $7.97 for 12 issues. Your first issue will be delivered to xxx E xxnd St, Bronx, NY *****-**** in 4-6 weeks."

This looks like a scam so they can try to start charging people... anyone else get this?

For those who accidentally subscribed, you could try this to cancel your "subscription." I'm not sure if this actually works since when I went to do this, no account number showed up but it's worth a try. You could go here: https://w1.buysub.com/pubs/HR/GHK/GHK_nameAddrEntry_combo.jsp?cds_page_id=41097&cds_mag_code=GHK&id=1309995601576&lsid=11871838530030477&vid=2
then log in using the information you used to enter for a freebie. Then, on the left hand side, you should be able to click "Cancel Subscription." Just follow directions after that. I didn't receive a confirmation email for unsubscribing and on top of that, accidentally deleted the Order Confirmation email since it landed in my Spam folder. Sigh, freebies are just so tempting.
