Fifty bucks is fifty bucks. If this is the unit you want, it's a great deal - primarily because it has been refurbished. I've been buying Apple recons for 6 years now and what sets them apart is this: regular production units are tested as a complete unit, and on some lines, one in twenty gets tested. On a recon they test every system and component individually, a level of inspection and QC you don't get with regular production items from them or anyone else. Of course, this is apple tech reps telling me this, but I have had no problems. I'v bought Computers, monitors, airports, iPods, iPhones and more. Of course, your results may vary.

As far as I know, they will release new version of ipad having camera early 2011, like new ipod has. So, now is their time to release refurbished units and lowering the prices. BTW, I think $50 ( 10%) is not worth to save in this case.

I'd spend $50 more for a new rather than a refurb unit. As for the SD card....I think it'll come out in the 3rd or 4th gen of iPads. Its pretty obvious what next generation iPad is going to have.

Don't hold your breath. The hardware cost for adding a SD card reader to any device is probably on the order of $5.00. The reason they have never put one in any of their products is not a cost issue. It has to do with piracy and jailbreaking; a choice that obviously hasn't stopped the tide of jailbreaking. I just got an Android phone (Samsung Captivate) and am completely loving it. I'm going to hold out until a decent Android Pad comes out (later this year or early next year from what I'm hearing).

Obviously, people are having no trouble jailbreaking the iPhones and iPads. There should be no reason why they aren't going to put an SD card on an iPad. Apple better step up their game since Samsung just announced their Galaxy Tab which does have a MicroSD card.

The reason for the non-inclusion of an SD reader has _nothing_ to do with jailbreaking, and everything to do with selling you 16 gb of memory for 100, or 48 gb for 200. If there were an SD reader, there would be _no_ market for the 32gb/64gb iPad. Apple is the king of planned obsolescence, non-user-serviceability, and selling you product for far more than it should cost. "Oh, shucks, your battery is no longer keeping a good charge? just send it to us for service." I'll pass, Steve.

Apple... yah, and it still doesn't accept a SD card. Unforgivable.

As much as I love Apple products, $50 off for refurbished unit + TAX isn't really a big enough discount. I think somewhere around the $399 range should attract a lot of people.
