LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Video streaming and rental firm Netflix Inc. (US:NFLX) said late Monday some of its customers were unable to use its streaming service due to technical problems at Amazon.com Inc. (US:AMZN), according to a Wall Street Journal report. "Netflix is down for some customers this Christmas Eve, thanks to an outage of some of Amazon's cloud infrastructure," the report cited Netflix as saying on its Twitter account. As of midnight U.S. Eastern time, Netflix's main Twitter feed didn't display the quoted tweet, instead showing a post reading: "We're sorry for the Christmas Eve outage. Terrible timing! Engineers are working on it now." The Wall Street Journal report said the problem appeared to involve Amazon's AWS system, which delivers Internet service for many websites, including Netflix, Instagram and Foursquare. The report quoted a Netflix spokesman as saying the problem stretched "across the Americas."
