Isn't very practical because phone batteries die. I think the technology is awesome, but until our phones never die and there are security measures in place, this doesnt make sense. A better solution would be fingerprint readers on cars. Coming soon maybe?

Not sure if it will be fingerprint readers, but some type of biometrics certainly.

As much as I enjoy technology, I really don't care for applications of it that have little upside and considerable downside. Since phones can get lost, stolen, dropped & broken, or just lose power, it would be crazy not to carry around a physical key at all times as a backup, assuming that that will still be an option. If I have to carry around a physical key anyway, what big advantage is there to this?

Very well said. The downside is far greater than the upside.
