About this Deal

Starting today (4/16), Starbucks is revamping their Rewards Program! In short, these changes will make earning rewards a lot faster (see a detailed explanation below).

Before the changes, Rewards members needed to earn 300 stars in a year to become Gold Level, plus they needed to earn an extra 125 stars to redeem for a reward. At 2 stars for every $1 spent, that could take a while before you can actually redeem anything.

With this new rewards system, Members will still earn 2 stars for every $1 spent, but you can redeem your points for different items! Here's the breakdown:

  • 25 Stars for an extra shot, flavor, or soy milk to your drink for free
  • 50 Stars for any size hot brewed coffee, hot tea, or bakery item for free
  • 150 Stars for any handcrafted beverage or breakfast item for free
  • 200 Stars for a lunch sandwich, salad or protein box for free
  • 400 Stars for packaged coffee or a single merchandise item for free

All other Starbucks Rewards will still be available such as free in-store brewed coffee or tea refills and birthday freebies.

How much do we have to spend to earn 25 stars? == $12.50 and an extra shot, flavor or soy milk cost 25 stars???? OMG... there is something wrong here????

I don't like how Starbucks and others are moving away from email coupons to requiring a cell phone app. Seems to exclude certain people. Even if you have a smart phone with data and know how to use it...how many APPs can you have before you run out of memory storage?

We get less & pay more! I’m sorry but, Starbucks is getting too expensive for us seniors! With or without any rewards!

I have to agree, this change is horrible. It will take longer to get to redeem. And hot coffee is rewarded a lot more often. I will probably go to Dunkin more often.

Boo..that is a horrible "update". The only that benefit are the plain coffee and tea drinkers. It's going to take longer to get a reward.
