Our is on the fritz too, I am looking for the ability to control the temperature as you are and possibly a timing feature? This one has hi, low and warm. I may continue looking, I would spend more for more features :--)

it's really frustrating, because mine appears to have many features and temperature controls, but it all comes out the same...HOOOTTTT and OVERCOOKED! just checked it this morning and didn't even realize it was an actual crockpot brand that i own! boo! =(

I've had this for a few years now and I use it faithfully!

I never used a slow cooker, to be honest. is it practical to have one?

i absolutely think so...there are so many variations of meals you can make. Dips, Stews, Soups, Dinner, and I have even seen recipes for dessert. If you don't mind leaving it cook while you sleep or leave it on while you are not home it's definitely a winner. Some recipes take longer than others but with a little one and the two of us with crazy schedules this is much more convenient than standing at the stove every night.
