Bella Cucina Slow-Cooker Rebate Scam

2 1
Did anyone else get scammed out of their $10 rebate on this offer? Today I received a letter from "The Advertising Checking Bureau" denying my rebate because "YOUR PURCHASE DATE/TIME FALLS OUTSIDE OF THE SPECIFIED DATES/TIMES FOR THIS PROMOTION". Luckily, I have scans of the offer and my receipt showing otherwise, but this is obviously an attempt to scam customers who didn't. I even circled the date of purchase on the submitted receipt so there is no way they could have missed it. The letter dated 1/10/2011 but postmarked 1/24/11 and received 1/28/2011 says I have 30 days from the date of the letter to supply the correct/missing information. Just another obvious attempt to make it difficult to respond in a timely manner.

I'm sorry to hear your experience. Thankfully you have the evidence, and thank you for sharing.

I purchased the Bella Cucuna Triple Slow Cooker In December and have not received my rebate or a letter. I would have never purchased this item had I known the rebate was not valid. Did they included a telephone number on your letter? If so, will you please post it here?

Hi roshundadturner! I'm glad you asked, because after calling them and seeing no change in the rejection status online, I finally did get my rebate just last week, even though the check was dated 2 months earlier. Here's the info from the original rejection letter:

The Advertising Checking Bureau, Inc.
Attn: Sensio Rebate Specialist
PO Box 1919
Memphis, TN 38101
Fax 901-345-8812 or call 877-217-4421

Some rebate operations have long been suspected of dirty tricks, such as unjustified rejections and significantly backdating and delaying the mailing of both letters and checks to increase the chance of missing the deadline to respond or cash the check, or just claiming to have never received your mailing. They probably figure that only a few people will ever bother to follow up. I always scan every rebate, receipt, and UPC into my computer, just for instances like this.
