I would say the kindle fire, but you are so limited not having the android or apple app market... what I mean by this is stay with android. Apple is just too pricey obviously lol. I heard blackberry playbook's are great, but they don't have a big app market either. If you don't care, go with the playbook. Also, the google nexus 7 is fantastic. I have one, and it is great. Gets the job done. Its pricier than the playbook, but it comes with android, and is a little better statistically speaking.

I have been awaiting the answers myself. I won a Kindle fire hd from another site...not that great. Netflix almost never works, the internet is slow, and no apple app . my 4 yr old son loves it, so i'm on the market for one for me. Thank you everyone for taking te time to answer. :)
I will be checking out the Nexus 7.

Question. Can Kindle books be loaded onto the Nook? Does the nook HD have the option to view books in the Nook paperwhite format?
Very interested in an e-reader but I have both kindle and nook books. If I can get a tablet for as cheap as Walmart is offering the nook HD, I'll go that way.

I gotta tell ya. I was skeptical, but I stopped by B&N at lunch today. Sure enough, the HD+ will load and power the Kindle ap. The demo in the store even had it loaded which surprised me a bit. It seems to be quite a bit cheaper than the Kindle Fire.
Again, thanks for the heads up.

It looked really good in the store for the little time I played with it. They didn't have a lot loaded onto it, but I liked what I saw. I liked the night time e-reader setting. Computers give me eye strain. I think it will help in low light.
I didn't buy one on the spot. I had to order gift card from my MasterCard. Basically I will get it for points only. I was really looking for an e-reader that would do both Nook and Kindle. Their e-reader was $100. This is $149 and they give you a $20 gift card. Really can't pass it up

Yep its a good deal. It will drop more, could happen as early as monday when this sale is over. Youll like it, it is in my opinion the best bang for the bucks out there. I bought a Galaxy Tab 3, and returned it within 2 days. Id much rather just have the Nook HD+. ANd B&N did come out and say they are not getting out of the tablet/e-reader business. They are seeing all the good publicity surrounding the HD+ lately because this is the price point it should have been selling at and people are eating it up left and right.
