Grilling tools?

1 0
I'm just getting into grilling and would like to see what people recommend as far as grilling tools. I'm not looking for a 20 piece tool set that comes in a chrome case. At the minimum I am looking for tongs and spatula. I already have a grill brush I received from someone as a gift.  I'm skeptical about tools that have wooden handles, because it seems to me that the wood just get really disgusting after prolonged usage. Perhaps fully stainless steel tools would last longer? What brand do you use for your tools?

Please don't just google grilling tools and regurgitate some list, I can easily do that myself... I'm asking people for their honest FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE of tools that you ACTUALLY USE.

Thanks :)

Dude im grilling out every day of the week when im home from work. I just used there middle shelf stainless stuff from walmart or any dept store. The set i have now is 3 years old and is still in great shape. No need to spend alot of money on a spatula and tongs. And that is all i use as well. If you know how to cook meat and what it should feel like when cooked to perfection there is no need for a thermometer and all that other stuff.

I have a couple of those nice sets you talked about and have never used them. I don't like the oversized untensils or the wooden handles. They are too hard to place while cooking, and clean up is harder (don't easily fit in dishwasher).

Anyway, aside from a good grill brush, I just use my kitchen tools. I have a graduated set of 3 tongs that are really nice. Similar to this type:

And I use a grill grid thing for smaller veggies. Mine looks like this:
