Image Creating Tool: Help Your Deal Stand Out!

Hi DP Community :)

I wanted to share this free and easy tool with you:
Pixlr Editor

Having a good image often gets your deal more attention, and Pixlr can help you make something quick and easy.

DealsPlus images are formatted to be 500x500, so when you start, click "Create a New Image" and set the size to 500x500. Then you will have the right size canvas to make your image.

You can take screenshots and upload images as layers. Then resize and drag them around as you need.

Here are a few of the basic tools that help:

  • Adding Image: Too add an image, select the Layer Dropdown Menu. Then you can "Add Image As Layer" (upload from your computer) or "Open Image URL as Layer" (if you have an image url)
  • Moving Layers: The Arrow icon allows you to drag the current layer around. On the right hand size of the page, you can select which layer you want to move/work with
  • Resizing Layers: To resize a layer, go into the Edit DropdownMenu and hit "Free Transform". While holding down the shift key, you can drag the corner of the image to resize it without distorting it.
  • Add a Logo: Easily add a logo to your sale! When you search for a logo on google (for example Macy's Logo) add the phrase "png" to the end of your search: ("Macy's logo png"). A png file has no background, so you can put it on top of whatever image you have made. You will know you have selected the right kind of file because google will use a checked background to indicate this.
  • Delete Image Sections: The "Magic Wand" (5th icon in the icons menu) allows you to select and delete things you don't want, such as the background. With that icon selected, click where you dont want. The section will be highlighted, then hit delete on your keyboard.

If you are a visual learner, there are plenty of blog or Youtube tutorials you can look up (it helped me learn!)

Also, if this is something that interests you, feel free to ask questions and I will go over this or other aspects in more detail.

Happy deal hunting! (And image making!)

I'm not very image savvy, but I was able to pick up Pixlr pretty quickly. It's a very easy tool to use. If you've used Paint (or any similar image editing tool) you'll easily be able to master Pixlr!

Bumping this up. I was actually thinking about this today and glad I saw it quickly. I get tired of using the same ol' images sometimes and sometimes google doesn't have a really good pic of what I need.

I've worked with Photoshop and GIMP, and I have to say Pixlr is easier to learn how to use. It gets the job done for basic editing, which is nice.
