The iPhone screen is super tiny compared to the Galaxy. My friend had an iPhone and switched to the new Galaxy and loves it. My other friend who has an iPhone wants the Galaxy too after seeing our friend with his.
The iPhones they have/had is the model 4 not the new one.
I never used an iPhone but saw the new one this weekend. My brother in law has one. Personally I like the Galaxy. I would need glasses to see the iPhone 5.

I received the iPhone 5 the day that it came out. I too was deciding between the S3 and 5 but after playing Temple Run on a classmate's phone, I decided to go for the 5. Hahaha, I know it's weird but I just felt like it ran a lot smoother on the 4S than the S3 so it had to be even better on the 5, if not just better than the S3.
Anyway, that being said, I've had my 5 for over a month now and I love it. The battery life is great. The first few days I got it, I used it extensively - played games on it a lot, checked email, went on Facebook, browsed the internet... the works. Lasted throughout the day and finally died late at night. I was trying to drain the battery because I'm one of those people who think this "extends" the battery life. (Don't know if it's true or not.)
One thing I'm jealous of S3 users is one feature of the camera. It can take multiple pictures in a short period of time. I forgot the term for it but it could make something look like a flipbook, if that makes sense.
Hahah I understand :) I don't play for any teams so the last thing I'll add is something I've noticed - if you're really tech savvy and like the option of messing with your software more, you'll probably like the S3; however, if you just like a nice clean interface and don't consider yourself to be overly savvy, the iPhone 5 will be more than enough.
you will waste your life and time with the iPhone. it's for people who don't know anything about technology and are willing to pay the money.
Get the S3...it will make you a better person you will be happy :) There are endless amount of things you can do with the Galaxy S3

I have both. My employer provided the 5 and i own the S3. There is just very little the 5 is as good at doing let alone better than the S3.
Smart stay (your phone stays awake as long as you are looking at it)
share shot (instantly share photos with other S3 users, so say youre at a wedding and you snap pics, you can share them with anyone there without touching a thing)
Palm touch mute/Turn over mute (need to mute your audio, simply place your plam over the screen or flip the phone on its face to mute)
Pop out video (unlike apples lack of multitasking, if youre watching lets say a movie and you want to continue text your loved one, or you want to read email at the same time, simply pop out the video and you can continue to watch and do whatever else it is you need to do)
Notifications (Androids notification system is just head and shoulder better than iOS, smart alert knows if youve been away from your phone for awhile, instantly notifies you of any missed messages when you do decide to check your phone)
Removable battery, extended life batteries available.
.apk downloads and installations (the one reason people jailbreak is to download cracked games and apps for free. not need to root or jailbreak to accomplish this with the Galaxy, simply download an apk and install it with an apk install app.)
upgradeable storage. The galaxy will hold up to a 32gb micro sd card to expand your storage to 48gb.
As far as the camera, I think they are pretty much equal. The galaxy definately has more options and you will need to play with them to get great images. The most common mistake is setting your ISO to auto which will lead to poor quality.
S Voice is better than Siri, even Steve Wozniak admitted that.
multiple app stores available
Also a big one for me that I have just started fooling around with is tectiles iave some set up at home, some in my vehicles. I love this technology. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtpfKdxxHCU
Iphone 5 pros
Slightly less toxic than the S3
simplicity of iOS. This is what youre paying for when you buy an apple product of any kind.
display quality. this is a bag of mixed reviews, some labs have tested that the S3 is better some say the 5 is better. I do know that the S3 uses the full gamut of colors available while the 5 only uses 72% of available colors in the palette. i personally think the 5 display is clearer and sharper, not by much but it is
smaller and more lightweight
quicker updates not that this is a good thing. why update when you have it correct
i like the headphone jack on the bottom as we all put our phones in out pockets upside down
Really the iphone is solid for what it is. Its simple to use, even though my mother who has just gotten her first cell phone ever had no problem with learning her S3. The iphone like always is simplistic, it doesnt have alot of bells and whistles but its super user friendly. The Galaxy is just loaded with features, much more than I have time to write about. The removable storage is a big deal for me. Having an extended battery is a big deal for me as I sometimes am on a work location for up to who knows 48 hours or more at times. I also like being able to do things that I would need to jailbreak an iphone to accomplish. The google integrations is a must if you use several google apps. Also getting free apps, music, books from the Amazon appstore is a big deal.
I would like to mention that encorez stated about using an app killer. that is totally un-necessary since android 2.0 as the following versions have the advance multitasking management built in. Force closing apps could cause more harm than good. Simply hold the home key for one second and close an app if you feel its using too much battery.

Because youre allowing an app to use your cpu. Sitting idle in memory that is dedicated to keeping those apps in standby doesnt effect anything. Change the settings of the app. The battery manager will tell you what app is using your battery. My top 5 consuming my battery is cell standby (which I was out in the sticks today with no service and forgot to put it on airplane mode, screen, android os, chrome and maps. Not one app even close to using 5% of my battery and I use this thing all day long.

Just went from the iPhone 4 to the S3 - blew my mind. The iphone sucks in comparison and the only worth mentioning diff is 4G capability btw the 4 and the 5. Eff AAPL - I liquidated all my equity bc this company is way overvalued and cash flow is not sustainable. Steve Jobs death will lead to the end of Apple.

I started with ios, and after switching to android I've never looked back. Acidbaby listed a lot of the reasons I like android. The bottom line is I like being able to customize and get the most out of my hardware. Android simply blows ios out of the water in every way at this point in my opinion.
Also, battery life is incredible for me with the s3. I can go 16 hours and still have more than half my battery left.
Another awesome feature is the Swype keyboard (I'm using it now).

Dealleader ive only had issue with one app when I upgraded my firmware and that was Draw Something. iOS has the same issues when going from major release to major release not every app is going to be compatible with a new firmware no matter what OS youre using.
