Once they turn a year old you can start transitioning them to whole milk. It's okay to mix them if that is needed. (mommy of 2 boys)

That's actually a good way to make the transition from breast milk to cow's milk. Of course some kids tend to have a upset stomach. Could be Lactose Intolerant, but your doctor can suggest ways to help.

I would recommend slowly transitioning. Do it gradually in steps. We always had our kids off formula by a year. Also started them all on Gerber cereal at about 6 months.

If you're bottle feeding them, start by slowly adding in small amounts of whole milk with the breast milk until you eventually get to bottles that are only whole milk. I was told to have the transition last about a week.
We need to start transitioning, though it's harder for us. My daughter has a milk allergy, so we have to use an alternative and lets face it, I'm FRIGHTENED.

I'm in agreement with Brenteriot... with my first daughter we slowly made the transition from breast milk to whole milk to find out she was lactose intolerant. The pediatrician recommended then and with my other children to start the transition very slowly with 1% milk first, then 2% milk and then whole milk. The whole process is very tedious but its worth it!
