Not Plus'ing deals?!?

I have been noticing more and more that people are not puls'ing other peoples deals as much... I have seen several times when people are leaving comments about how great someone's deal is yet the deal is still only plus'd the amount of plus's the origional poster has... On my own deals I have seen more traffic on my deals but far less plus's... Has this happened to you??? have you noticed that your getting less plus's??? have you noticed it on other people's deals???

(lol i am always a little confused about how to add ing, ed & s to the end of plus)

to be honest, for me..i usually only plus a deal if i want to keep it in my references to go back to. i tend to comment on a deal if i think it's a good deal, but i don't often plus the deal. over the years, i've found that if i end up plussing all the deals that i think are good deals, i just end up flooding my profile with a bunch of deals that don't relate to me. i'd rather filter the deals myself. when i want to keep a deal in my profile, i'll plus it..this way i can go back to it whenever i want. i'm just sharing why i don't always plus..even though i'll comment. maybe others are doing the same thing..maybe not, though.

Thanks for the honesty I was just curious... I don't really need plus's I am happy at 4 plus's or whatever..I have just read a few thing on here about people having trouble getting plus's and since then I have been noticing this kind of thing happening more and more... maybe it just because I am looking now but i don't remember it being this hard when i started...

my pleasure. it is a shame sometimes when good deals go unnoticed, but at the same time, there's not much i can do to help. it's been an issue from the beginning, and it'll probably remain a problem. i think part of the problem is that we all have a different sense of what a "great" deal is. it's very subjective. not an easy thing to fix.

This has definitely been a problem for the longest time like nimrodboy3 said. I recall from a while ago that an admin or someone suggested people be more liberal with their plusses because that's how this site functions.

But alas, I too contribute to this problem and don't just go plussing deals all willy-nilly. One, it floods my profile like nimrodboy3 said. And two, I'm very selective about what a "good deal" is-- but that seems to be the problem with everyone else too...

This could apply to plussing comments also. If a positive comment is made, even if the deal wasn't plussed I always pluss the comment. Don't people pluss the comments either. It helps your rep.score if you do.

As i recall, adding the "heating up" feature was to suppose to encourage MORE plussing. Encorez deleted his question but someone suggested "hidden" scores - Do you like this deal? yes/no - yes adds your base plus and no does nothing (or can take away your base plus). We see the total if/when it's on the FP or via a "hotness-PLUS" scale showing a percentage based on 64 (not 100) - 16 is Smokin', 32 is HOT, 48 is On Fire, 64 is Blazin'

Just a thought. ;)

btw, if people are curious to see what deals are being viewed the most, try the "Clicks" feature - i think you will be VERY surprised.

I try plus-ing as much as I can, as long as I think it's a good deal. There are some deals that I really don't know much about so I try not to plus it just in case. As for comments, I plus whatever's witty and helps.

@omegafemale, where can I find this "Clicks" feature?

Fresh deal page, under the Never Miss a Coupon image there's a bar showing Heating Up, Most Recent, Most Plusses, Clicks, Following, Comments.

I use clicks and comments to try to pick the best deals. :)

I think if someone is going to leave a comment like "Great deal" or "nice find" they should also plus it. I mean, if you actually think it is a good find, wouldn't you want to plus it?

I think people are not plussing deals or comments because they only want to benefit themselves and not help the others generate money maker cash.

I usually plus deals when I actually buy the item or seriously think about buying the item, or there's no doubt that it's an awesome deal! Unless I think the deal should be front paged, why plus it? -- Plusing just for the sake of plusing may just be kicking out a different, better deal from making the front page.

I have no problem plusing other deals that I think are good and helping reward people in MM. I have on occasion plussed a deal for a newbie just to give them a little 'hello' and keep them interested in the site. (I remember how excited I got when I first started and people would plus my deals).

And while I do think more plusing in general would be good. I think people need to be careful. Many deals that have lots of plusses don't even work or aren't as good as they seem. They may be for a sweater that is only offered an XXS size, or for example, Men's Dockers in a burnt oragne red color (37 pluses people - really how many people actually looked at the deal -They were "Spiced Red" - Would you really wear those even if they were free? :-)
