Question about car - 1997 Mercedes E420. Is this a decent used car?

1 0
Hi all,

I am trying to get information on how good/bad/neutral 1997 Mercedes E420 is.
The car is 15 years old and has 100k miles on it. One owner (older lady) and all maintenance records from local mercedes dealership.

If you know this car could you please share some information?

Maintenance cost, reliability, etc.
I am thinking about buying this car for my daughter, her first car (she is in high school).

Title is clear and car checks out with auto check.

Price - $3980.00

Much appreciated for any feedback.

I think you can find a decent Japanese car for $4000 which is cheaper to fix, and gets better MPG.

My buddy had a old Mercedes and the front wheel bracket broke, and it would have cost him $4000 to fix it, so he sold it for $700.

i own a German car not a Mercedes but a bmw and it has 190 thousand miles, i do all the repairs myself and the parts are expensive if you compare them to other cars. if you end up buying it i recommend that you find an independent Mercedes shop because the dealer will get you broke real fast

^I agree w/ encorez and rd995. In the past, my brother bought an old jaguar and my sister bought an old Mercedes. They both got a great deal but had to get rid of them because older cars need repairs and the repairs and parts were very very costly. Sometimes the parts for older cars are even more costly because they are hard to find.

I was going to buy a new C350 last December but I think i made the right decision to get a Cadillac CTS instead due to what was already stated. The closest dealership is an hour away. Repairs are costly and well the CTS is just overall sexier.

Thanks for all feedback. I know the price is kind of low. Will be reselling it then for a little profit ;)
