They have very high quality parts. Each Movado is made start to finish by one person instead of an assembly line. The bracelets are a specific surgical steel (715? some odd number) and are pretty hypoallergenic, plus they are solid links (unlike Seiko/Citizen/Bulova) and will take a beating. The crystal is sapphire, the second hardest mineral known to man after diamonds. Then if you have diamonds they are VS1 quality, top bridal quality.
Sorry for going on, just wanted you to know you do have a very nice watch there!
awesome! I got one of the higher end Museum ones with the dot on top. I can tell the watch is made of better quality when I went to re-size my bracelet and my watchsmith had trouble unlinking them. How much is a normal museum watch usually?
In terms of prestige, is it on par with Montblanc, Tag Heurer, Tissot?

Movados are pretty nice. My parents are watchmakers and my mom even worked at Movado for a couple of years. They're no Rolex but I do like how sleek and simple their styles usually are.
I still wouldn't pay $1k for a watch in general though. I'm just not that much of a watch person now.

lol kffight3r :) Tag Heurer and the rest are very, very high end watches even compared to Movado.
arsiel I am cheap with a lot of things but not a nice, I'm too easily seduced by them LOL. My fav watch is Movado Fiero with 60 small diamonds around the dial
@arsiel I buy watches for 2 reasons. I am intrigued by the engineering of high end watches, especially the automatic ones and I am a big attention whore haha
I wear a lot of Tag Heurer so I thought I'd change it up and got a Movado but seems like it's not the same level :/

I always felt like Tag Huerer watches were UNREASONABLY expensive. I guess that's because of the sporty look they go for... I figure if something is expensive, it should look classy but that's just my weird opinion.
Automatic watches definitely look cool - especially if you get the skeleton ones where you can see the inside (:
And... as it goes with all expensive watches, it'll be expensive to repair them :P

haha I sort of agree with you but I have too many dress watches so Tags make a good change usually.
I got a guy who's a really good watchsmith and usually for the small stuff like taking links out, he doesn't even charge me. Repairs are not bad at all because they all have good manufacturing warranty :)

Having a watchsmith is nice! Thing is about the manufacturing warranty is that they sometimes swap the whole thing so once you have it for a long time, they may not swap it with the original movement but instead something cheaper. Happens to older clocks/watches nowadays since it's cheaper to change the whole thing than to repair it or find an old replacement part.
