Clearly it's not the generic ones. But would you say its Lexar? SanDisk? Another brand?

Kingston, the Japanese manufactured ones.

I've also heard good things about Kingston.

Mine is a Cruzer Micro, and while I don't know if I could judge performance, it sure has taken a physical beating and still works well.

Really, I heard from a friend that had Kingston that it's always been disappointing. He lost his data often using Kingston. I'd say Sandisk is the best.

The deciding factor is that it was Mfgd in Japan. The Taiwanese ones are junk.

I think your safest best is with a SanDisk. You might have to look for a Japenese manufactured Kinsgton one.

I like the Corsair Flash Voyagers. They take a beating and also have a great warranty(10 years)

I really like OCZ flashdrives.. I've had two. using the 4gb Rally2 right now. Had some corruption problems at first, but their tech team on their forum is excellent. They actually sent me their manufacturer's format tool. It found a couple bad sectors, remapped them and it's been working flawlessly and fast ever since then
