What's the Best Slow-Cooker to buy?

0 0
I'm looking for a good deal on a slow-cooker / crock pot. Budget:
  • I'd like to spend no more than $30
  • I'd consider $35-$40 for a 2-pot set.
Wish List:
  • I'd like it to have a stainless-steel-like finish. i.e. silver, but doesn't necessarily have to be "stainless."
  • I'd like it to have a function where it switches to "stay warm" mode, so if you set it to cook for 6 hours but you're not home for 8, it doesn't keep overcooking the contents for the last 2 hours.
  • I'd like the brand to be reliable enough that I'm not looking for a new one within the next 3 years.
  • I think I'd like a 5-6 quart capacity so that it can handle bigger tasks.
Bonus Items:
  • If it comes with a ~2-qt companion (in a set), that'd be handy for dips and smaller servings.
  • I have Amazon Prime, so if it's sold by Amazon and it'll ship to me free in 2 days, I'd be a happy camper.
I'm open to tips from veteran slow-cooker users too. If there's a feature I have to have, let me know. :) Thanks!

You wont have much luck finding what you want for under $30

Fair enough, I'd rather spend a little more for something that's going to be reliable and last. What do you suggest?

I was kind of hoping that the pre-Black Friday deals or holiday specials might drop a good item into that price range, but I accept that it might not happen.

We have this one and I love it. Has an included spoon and temperature gauge and most everything you are looking. The best part is the lid, I have thrown away 2 slow cokkers in the last 5 or 6 years because of the handles on the lids breaking. This one is pretty good quality and has a gasket so it seals nice and tight. And yes AMazon prime you will get it in 2 days for $40
