I picked up an ipod touch a couple months ago. It has WiFi, so it will do most of the things an iPhone will do...just not talk and text. And I swear for the life of me I don't get what people need smart phones for. All I use my WiFi for is occasional web browsing and games. Maybe I just don't know how to use it to its full capacity?

People like me need a smartphone because I use apps to essentially "punch in" to work. I need other apps for work as well as just the need to pass the time since I work away from home 3 weeks per month, I can skype with my daughter who lives between Atsugi Japan and Fresno California. Theres many things we need them for.
And also your ipod touch can text. Check out an app by Pinger called textfree

I am really torn now between the Galaxy IIIS when my contract is up on August first or ditching the whole thing and going to a prepaid plan such as Walmarts $45 or Boosts $50 unlimited plans. I spend too much on cell phones for my budget. My sons should soon take over their own cell phone bills so that may help me decide.

The downside with the prepaid companies is the lack of phones, or should I say good phones. Right now I am about 80% sure im going with the HTC One X. My daughter has had hers for about 6 weeks now. Its just a stunning phone. The screen is gorgeous, i love the polycarbonate sealed case (downside is no removable battery), and its just super fast. Id really need to get hands on with an SG3 before making the decision, I didnt care for the SG2/Skyrocket so im pretty sure its the One X, or possibly the new Xperia, i have to check that one out too.
