depending on what you need it for and what is your price range you can find deals for every budget.

Hmm, I guess I am mainly trying to figure out my price range :)

If youre going to buy a netbook why not just buy a 10" tablet that will have basically do the exact same thing? Netbooks are essentially a dead product. Nobody wants to lug around a 10" laptop when they can buy a lighter anf thinner 10" tablet for the same price or a few bucks more.
@Acidbaby, I should have specified I am looking for the small, ultra light netbooks. Tablets seem harder to use... and easier to scratch and break. I am looking to replace the laptop my sister broke the only time I lent it to her >
@Acidbaby: I can think of a few reasons to choose a netbook or laptop over a tablet:
Tablets are more expensive, and do less than computers
Tablets run phone operating system and phone apps, computers run general purpose operating systems and full-blown software.
By the time you outfit a tablet to do anything beyond entertainment, you've amassed a bag full of loose pieces (prop-up case, keyboard, trackpad, etc.) at much greater cost than the neat little integrated package that is a netbook or laptop

fluffy while the price is a bit more a tablet would offer more functionality than a netbook. there are also windows tablets besides Android and the Ipad. You can also run windows 95 or 98 on Android tablets. Believe me im not a tablet fan. But when comparing to a netbook which is essentially a tablet with a manual keyboard without app functionality why would you even consider a netbook if you can afford say an A500 which you can get for $300.
And dealwagger, most newer tablets have gorilla glass which is virtually unscratchable. Or a simple screen protector and a good one like Stenheil or Zagg would protect it further.
#Acidbaby: basically I want something very small & lightweight that can take good/passable quality pictures. I don't need a lot of storage space or software, mostly quick start up & internet access. Thanks for the info about tablet screens & apps, now I have some ideas of what to look for!
Take pictures? A netbook isnt going to take pictures. Well unless you are going to use a webcam which isnt going to give you a quality picture. I dont know what your spending limit is but if as I suspected you just want to browse the internet, play some games, and such with no real need to run alot of windows programs then I would definately go with a netbook which you can get a pretty good one in the $300 range.
I have had some really great quality photos from laptop webcams, so yes that's what I meant :) Thanks for the added info. Maybe I need a digital camera and a web cam. I think I'll probably stay near the $300 figure b/c technology ages so fast. Unless I see some killer deal. Hmm. Possibilities...
Well in that price range my son has a kindle fire (it sucks) and my daughter has an Acer A500 which is a very nice tablet that you can get new for around $300. Also look as the Asus Transformer as it should be available in your price range. Im not knocking netbooks but 99% of them have no cd/dvd drive which to me if youre going to buy a laptop type computer a cd/dvd is neccessary or its pointless. Just my opinion.
