Why do people post news links in the "Ask & Share" Section?

I don't get it. If you have a news link you think people will like, post it as a deal and if it's that great, people will + it. This section is for asking questions and sharing tips.

I would tend to agree, but maybe they mean it as a tip?

If it's an article that explains how to get the best buy over the holidays or an article that shows you when a store discounts their Xmas items, then I agree, it could be a tip. But most of the articles being posted do not fit this.

I think they're just being posted to get views for MM purposes, which is sad and no benefit to the site.

Worse yet. Why is there a news section for submitting deals?

Ask & Share Means Share Any Thing Not For MM Purposes.

actually..the way i see it..if it's news..then post in the news section, however..this section is also the "share" section. before this was around this section was more of a community setting where you could chat it up about whatever you wanted. with the new name of this section, it's a bit hard to figure out what should and should not be posted here. i think i even had issues a while back with posting something here since it wasn't really a tip..but i wanted to share it. it's all relative, i guess..or something.

I have seen "news" posted on the front page... is that just for mods?
