Wii vs Kinect?

2 0
Microsoft Kinect looks sooooooooooo cool! But, it's pretty pricey. Should I get a $150 Wii during Black Friday or pay over $400 for Kinect (I don't have a Xbox 360)? Does anyone have plan to buy Kinect?

Skyk this isnt even a close one. Even if there was no such thing as the kinect I could in no way recommend a Wii over and Xbox. Its like comparing a Mercedes to a Kia. Unless you absolutely need to play Wii exclusive games Xbox quality, games, online play just destroy the Wii. So if you want to get into motion controlled games its still the xbox even though the game list is limited at the moment.

i think it really depends on what type of games you want to play. both consoles are awesome, but are they the right match for you? i think in general, the wii has been marketed to children and adults, whereas xbox markets it's products mainly to the younger crowed.

the xbox definitely has better quality, but is it as fun for you? there's no point in getting something nice if you won't appreciate it. get the one you think you'll have more fun with, since after all, that's what it's there for.

Xbox > Wii anyday...if you are worried about price wait it out a little bit. Hype will eventually die down

All right. So I played with Kinect today. I must was pretty darn fun. I'm pretty sure I had more fun than I have had with the Wii. It turns out that Xbox has games for a range of ages when it comes to Kinect. It was nice not having to hold anything to play the game. The proce is still the stinger, though. For me, to have fun with the Xbox, I'd need the Kinect portion. For the Wii, I don't need the Wii fit portion to truly enjoy the console.

Not sure if this helps any, but I thought I'd update you all.

I like my Wii, and you can pick them up for a song compared to where they started out retailing. I agree with the others that it depends upon your intended usage, however.

This link might help:
There's an overview of the Xbox Kinect, PlayStation Move, and Nintendo Wii + some pretty good comparisons & advice in the comments section. The larger space needed for Kinect may be a decision factor. "...10 feet of space from the Kinect front to back, and 8 feet side to side if you want to be able to play it with 2 people at optimal sensor settings. "

I would go with the Xbox Kinect over the Wii any day, you have to also look at this also, the Wii has been out there a lot longer and should be reaching the end of its life pretty soon, the Xbox Kinect is brand new and Xbox promises to only build on top of this idea. Also if Microsoft was to move onto making a new Xbox they would still integrate the Kinect into the new model of Xbox they would bring out when ever that might be...

You can get the bundle for $299 under the $400 mark you were talking about and with the holidays around the corner i am sure you are only going to be seeing more and more deals on this for the Christmas season. Here is a link to a bundle for $299.

We have both. Stick with XBOX for teen boys, as Wii just doesn't have the games they like. With Xbox you have more options of play now that the Kinect is available. The Kinect is really fun and there is no controller to go flying out of your hands into the glass curio cabinet :) (yes this really happened with a Wii controller).
