E-commerce giant Amazon has just announced a new change - shoppers can now get free shipping when they spend at least $35. Previously, the threshold was at $49, more than most of their competitors like Target ($25), Best Buy ($35), and Walmart ($35). This is the first shipping minimum price drop since the company increased it from $25 to $35, and then again from $35 to $49. Moreover, if your order includes books, you can ship free at $25.

Interestingly, Amazon made this announcement just several weeks after Walmart changed the free shipping threshold on their 2-day shipping service to $35. This drop from Amazon shows a diligent effort to remain competitive as most retailers are abandoning brick-and-mortar efforts and turning their focus to online shopping, something over which Amazon has claimed victory for years.
