E-commerce giant Amazon has just announced a new change - shoppers can now get free shipping when they spend at least $35. Previously, the threshold was at $49, more than most of their competitors like Target ($25), Best Buy ($35), and Walmart ($35). This is the first shipping minimum price drop since the company increased it from $25 to $35, and then again from $35 to $49. Moreover, if your order includes books, you can ship free at $25.

Interestingly, Amazon made this announcement just several weeks after Walmart changed the free shipping threshold on their 2-day shipping service to $35. This drop from Amazon shows a diligent effort to remain competitive as most retailers are abandoning brick-and-mortar efforts and turning their focus to online shopping, something over which Amazon has claimed victory for years.

This drop in price to achieve free shipping is TERRIFIC! I am not a prime member, so this is really helpful. Now I don't have to delay purchases or make non-essential purchase just to achieve the amount to qualify for "free shipping" Thanks, Amazon!

It's especially great because I AM a Prime member, but not all things are offered with Prime shipping. Super helpful!

We have Prime in my house but I think this is a smart move by Amazon. It keeps them on top of the competition.

YES, This means a lot to me! I love & buy from Amazon all the time. It is hard sometimes to reach that $49 amount when you REALLY NEED some things and your just a little short of reaching that dollar amount to get free shipping.
Thanks AMAZON!!!!!

Agreed! Now I don't have to buy unnecessary things to get to free shipping :)

Yes this does affect me. I shop AMAZON all the time. So tied of having to put something back because the shipping is so high.

I know what you mean! Shipping varies so much on items that don't qualify for Prime, and sometimes it's just not worth it. This makes a big difference!
