
By this time next year, Amazon could be the largest clothing retailer in the United States. In an official press release, Amazon introduce their first ever live daily fashion show which premieres tonight 3/8 at 9ET/6PT. What was at first a quiet leap into the fashion industry is now being highlighted by tonight’s premiere of “Style Code Live.” Style Code Live is a free, interactive, live show that is dedicated to fashion and beauty. The show’s hosts include Lyndsey Rodrigues of MTV’s Total Request Live, Rachel Smith of Good Morning America, and Frankie Grande, a television personality who can be seen on the 16th season of Big Brother.

You may not have realized, but Amazon quietly rolled out private label clothing to their online marketplace over the last couple of weeks. In fact, they now own and sell a total of 7 private brands. So far, the brand names include Franklin & Freeman, Franklin Tailored, James & Erin, Lark & Ro, North Eleven, Scout + Ro, and Society New York. Word on the street is that they will be expanding their fashion line even further in the near future.

With the combination of several new private label clothing lines and a live show dedicated to fashion and beauty, Amazon is clearly placing itself in a position to take the fashion industry head on. If successful, this could help bolster Amazon’s profits and secure their spot as the top online retailer even further.
