Yes, you read that correctly. In June, Amazon announced that they would be acquiring Whole Foods Market in a deal that costs $13.7 billion. Two months later, that deal will finally close this coming Monday, August 28, and we'll finally get a taste of what that really means. Together, the two high-powered companies have a vision to make Whole Foods' natural, high-quality food affordable for everyone, without compromising the market's high standards. Beginning Monday, Whole Foods will offer lower prices on select best-selling items throughout the store, such as Whole Trade organic bananas, animal-welfare-rated 85% lean ground beef, organic avocados, both crunchy and creamy almond butter, and more. However, this is only the beginning.

There are also more job prospects in the future as Whole Foods' demand for manpower increases due to more store openings and expanded partnerships with local farmers and artisans. We're excited to see how Amazon's partnership with Whole Foods, which will continue under the operation of the chain's CEO John Mackey, will change the way we shop for groceries online and in-store. Whole Foods has received plenty of criticism for its high prices, but we're optimistic that the introduction of Amazon will steadily decrease costs. Let us know what you think in the comments below!
