There are several reasons that people make the decision to get an iPhone. This particular type of smartphone has a lot of capabilities that others don't, one of them is Siri.

For years, people have been using Siri to help them find restaurants in their neighborhood, get the weather, read your emails and to acquire a variety of information that they need without having to type it in themselves. It is true that Siri can be very helpful when people are looking to complete certain tasks quickly, but not everyone has taken advantage of everything Siri can do for them. That being the case, it may be time to take a look at Siri settings and start making some changes that will make your life easier.

1. Send texts.

When in a rush, you don't always have time to go into your text messages, type out a text and send it. To save time, program Siri to know who people in your phone are and she can text them for you. For example, you can say, "Text my best friend" and Siri will do it for you. You just have to make sure she knows who your best friend is, which is something you can do by simply telling her.

2. Change Siri's gender.

One of the cool things about Siri that many people don't take advantage of is the ability to change the voice. Do you want Siri to be male or female? This is something you can easily change by going to her settings. You can also program Siri to have an American, Australian or British accent.

3. Get directions.

Ever need to look up directions to a friend's house from your home or work? Instead of pulling up a map and entering the direction manually, you can program Siri to know your home address and your friend's and family members' addresses. Just ask her how to get to where you are going and she'll give to step-by-step directions. Not only will this save time, it will save energy, too.

4. Set reminders.

Everyone has forgotten to call someone or to text a friend "Happy Birthday." With help from Siri, you can set reminders to ensure you don't forget to do all of the things you planned. Just tell her to remind you of a task and when it's time, she'll remind you by showing you a little notification on your screen.

5. Get scores.

Are you a sports fan? Whether you like football, baseball, soccer or another sport, Siri can let you know the score of the game. All you have to do is ask the score of the game or if your favorite team won and the answer will be spoken and stats will be displayed.

6. Wake up call.

On those nights where you find yourself pouring into bed after a long day or work, the last thing you will want to do is set an alarm. If you tell Siri to set an alarm for a specific time or to wake you up in eight hours, it will wake you up at the time you specified with no problem.

7. Calculator.

Your phone does have a calculator, but it's not as easy to access as Siri. When you need to calculate something, just ask Siri. For example, you can say, "What is 5 times 7," and it will give you the answer.

8. Post to social media.

Want to post a quick status, but don't want to open the apps? Figure out what social media account you want to post to, tell Siri and then tell it what you want to post.

9. Make reservations.

Making reservations doesn't have to be a hassle, especially when you have Siri. Just tell it you want to make a reservation at the restaurant of your choice and it will give you a list of times to choose from using the OpenTable app. 

10. Count calories.

Watching your weight and need to know how many calories are in the burger you are about consume? Just ask Siri. You can even find out other nutritional facts about the foods you eat.
