National Coffee day was September 29th and in honor of that most magical of holidays, the folks at Baileys sent us three new (limited time only) holiday flavors of their non-alcoholic creamers to sample! I am a huge fan of Baileys Irish Cream in general (who isn’t) so I was really excited to try out their new creamer flavors. To make sure we really had them nailed down, we’ve been using the creamers extensively over the last week and are finally ready to deliver our verdict. SPOILER ALERT, they were good!
No flavor is more immediately associated with fall than that of pumpkin. As soon as you pour some of Baileys Pumpkin Spice creamer into your coffee, the aroma of pumpkin pie hits you in the face and brings back all the memories and experiences you love about fall. The creamer taste exactly like the name promises and produces a rich flavored cup of coffee. Don’t worry, there is no artificial taste here. This is definitely one of my favorite flavors, the only downside is that the smell is so homey and relaxing, it almost defeats the caffeine in my morning Joe. I would rather save this for an evening cup of coffee.
** Fun Fact, the smell of pumpkin is one of the most…. Ahem… arousing smells for both men and women.
While pumpkin is definitely the flavor of fall, peppermint is the flavor of winter and the holiday season. Opening a pint of Baileys White Chocolate Peppermint Bark creamer immediately brings a soft peppermint smell and calls to mind candy canes. My criticism of most peppermint flavorings is that the mint is both artificial tasting and overpowering; not so with Baileys. The background notes of white chocolate, while not particularly pronounced really mellow the peppermint out and add an extra touch of sweetness.
Whereas the pumpkin creamer is my favorite for curling up on the couch in the evening, the rousing peppermint flavor is my call for morning coffee.
Baileys Red Velvet Cupcake is a cupcake in liquid form. While we all have very clear ideas about what pumpkin and peppermint should taste like, it is harder to pinpoint the flavor of red velvet. Here Baileys has done an admirable job of delivering on the promise of this creamer’s namesake. The creamer tastes most strongly of cream cheese frosting but also includes subtle hints of what might be white chocolate. This creamer has the least pronounced flavor of Bailey’s holiday flavors but does deliver a creamy and distinctive sweetness to your coffee. I would recommend Baileys Red Velvet Cupcake for folks who want to try something a little different but really want the coffee to shine (and not the creamer).
