Before you make a purchase at Best Buy get in on the My Best Buy rewards program. Like many stores, it offers you points for how much you spend and gives you savings back once you hit certain milestones. As a standard, My Best Buy rewards members earn 0.5 points for every dollar spent. Earn 250 points and you can get $5 off your next purchase. It's a pretty simple way to get cash back if you are planning to make a big purchase on Black Friday.

If you spend at least $1,500 a year at Best Buy, you will get bumped up to Elite status and earn one point for every dollar you spend, helping you get to those rewards even faster. Best Buy even has an Elite Plus status which requires $3,500 in purchases annually, but you get 1.25 points per dollar spent. This would be ideal if you are buying big ticket items as you will rack up major points quickly.

Also, the My Best Buy rewards program promises that you will be alerted of exclusive sales as a member so be sure to register your account and get those emails flowing to your inbox to save big. Additionally, your Best Buy account will come in handy if you decide to take advantage of these sales online for Black Friday.

Now that you have the app and are quick to make a purchase through it, you will be happy to know that you can get free two-day shipping with your purchase. There may be a $35 minimum but chances are with whatever you buy you will be over that limit anyway. This seems the ideal way to go unless you are looking for something that you assume will be out of stock quickly.

  5. Apply for a credit card
If you are looking for a way to save even more, the Best Buy credit card can help. It offers two options to save by giving you points for your My Best Buy rewards or through extended financing. The rewards will give you as much as 5% of your purchase back in points. When you open the card for the first time, you can get as much as 10% back in rewards, making a big purchase a good idea to put on a Best Buy credit card.

If financing is more your thing, then opt to go with this feature that gives you as much as 24 months depending on the size of your purchase to pay in full with no interest charges. This may be a good option if you are planning on spreading out the payments over several months without paying any additional costs. Just be sure to pay it off in time so you don’t get an interest charge on the full amount.

  6. Trade in your old devices
Black Friday is as good a time as any to upgrade your electronic devices as the prices will be just right. But what do you do with your old device? Best Buy has a trade-in program that pays you in the form of a Best Buy gift card for your used electronics. On its website, you can estimate the value of what your trade-in will be from phones to tablets, video games, and laptops – they take them all.

This is a good way to get some credit towards your new upgrade purchase and unburden yourself from an old device that usually just ends up in the back of a drawer. You may want to do your trade-in before Black Friday as the store will be severely busy and may not be able to accommodate this, but this way you will have the credit to spend on Black Friday.

  7. Get there early
Probably the most important thing to remember about Black Friday shopping at Best Buy is to get there early. Lines form days in advance for those super doorbuster deals and there is no way of knowing how many they will have in stock. If you really want something that Best Buy has on sale be sure to get there early and be prepared to wait in line beforehand as you won’t be the only one with this good idea. Make a plan in advance for what you want and arrive before the store opens to ensure you get to partake in the deals.
