In less than two short months, Sears Holdings, the parent company of Sears department stores and Kmart discount stores, has announced yet another round of new store closures in a new blog post published Friday. This time around, eight Sears and 35 Kmart locations nationwide will be shutting their doors as a strategic move in hopes of regaining profitability.

Eddie Lampert, chairman and CEO of Sears Holdings, states in the blog post that these closures are part of a larger strategy to manage the losses from unprofitable stores and eliminate space where Sears Holdings cannot uphold their consumer needs, so the focus of the company will be riveted on the remaining 1,140 stores. Furthermore, Lamperts statements indicate that more shoppers can expect more locations to close in the future in order to remain a competitive retailer.

Last year, and of course, in the recent months, many major retailers and department stores announced plans for mass closures. With Amazon breathing down traditional brick and mortars neck, even the longest players in the industry like Macy's, Kmart, and Walmart are closing poor performing locations. (Head over here to see a list of closures).

Sears had previously announced that they would be closing 300 existing stores which accounts for nearly 50% of its location. (This was announced last year). Earlier in January 2017, the retailer released information on additional store closures which now adds over 20 more stores to this list. You can view the full list below.

I wanna be the very best like no one ever was. Couponing is my real test, to cut them is my cause. I will travel across the land, searching far and wide. Each store to understand, the discounts that's inside.

I love K Mart and really hate to see the store close in Lexington, Ky. I shop there all the time and I really like their clothes, shoes, makeup and just about everything they sell. I wish they would change their minds and keep this one. So sorry to see it go.
