Say it isn’t so!

The bad news is that Chipotle has announced they will be closing ALL their stores on February 8th. The good news though, is that it will only be for a few hours so that the employees can have an all hands on deck meeting to address food safety issues.

In the wake of the continued E. Coli outbreaks, Chipotle is going back to the drawing board in an effort to get their company back on track.

2015 was a tumultuous year, with stock prices plummeting and growing concern sweeping through their customer base. In an effort to win back their loyal customers and return sales to the normal level, Chipotle CEO Steve Ells has decided to try to get everyone on the same page with this meeting. The plan is to introduce a new food safety plan going forward. He is confident that Chipotle will be able to put these safety issues behind them and that it will never happen again.

A new marketing plan will also be unveiled in February, including doubling the amount of free food given out to their loyal customers. This new motto appears to be taking effect today, as loyal Chipotle customers can text to receive a coupon for a free burrito!

We’ll continue to monitor this situation, and hopefully Chipotle can have a big rebound in 2016. For now, we hope you loaded up on Super Bowl snacks, to hold you over.
