We’re only halfway through October and Black Friday sales are beginning to come into focus. So far we have gotten a full view of what this season’s most popular toys will be and even got our hands on the first official Black Friday 2016 ad release. Before you get swept up in the excitement, we want you to know that there are some fantastic deals you can be shopping ahead of this year’s events.

Whether you are looking to get the best deal possible or simply can’t stand the Black Friday madness, we’ve got you covered with the top deals you should be shopping before it all begins.

Pro Tip: Before you shop- check out each store’s coupon page on DealsPlus to get a heads up on the latest and upcoming sales, promo codes, and printable coupons so that you can really maximize your savings!

1. Grills & Other Patio Furniture

The warmer months have passed for most of the country and many big box retailers are ready to clear out the leftover patio furniture and garden decor.  While it’s probably not on your shopping list this month, if you are looking to get a great deal- now is your chance. Look for sales with savings of up to 70% off at Target, Sears, and Walmart, as well as coupons that will stack for additional savings.

2. Camping Gear

This is a unique time of the year in which you can get cheap camping gear and still have a chance to use it. No need to wait until the end of November when the temperature drops! During October and into early November, you can find deals tents, cots, chairs and more. Check out the clearance section at your favorite sporting goods store like Gander Mountain or Dicks Sporting Goods for the best deals.

3. Jeans

There’s never a bad time of the year for wearing jeans. There might be a better time of the year for purchasing them, though! In between Back-to-School sales in September and Black Friday seems to be the sweet spot for denim shopping. The theory behind the surge in sales and coupon discounts is that retailers are clearing out unsold merchandise to make more room for fall and winter wear like jackets, gloves, and hats. Check out stores like Levi’s, Lucky Brand, and Express for savings of up to 50% off men’s and women’s jeans. If you’re looking for kids’ denim try stores like Aeropostale and Hollister.

4. Costumes

Keep an eye out on Halloween this year for some costume inspiration. Costume prices are slashed the day after Halloween and a few days into November in order to clear out stock. This especially goes for seasonal costume shops like Spirit Halloween, but can also apply to year-round party supply stores like Party City. Get creative and avoid pop culture references (which will be dated in a year) to find a great price.

4. Travel Deals

October is a great month for traveling as it is considered the off-season for a variety of locations, including the Caribbean and Europe. Not only is it a good time to travel, but it boasts some of the year’s best deals on vacation packages and cruises. Look for specials where you must book by November 1st for travel in 2017. Expect to see offerings of add-on amenities, complimentary extra nights, and of course, discounts on airfare when bundled with hotels. Check out sites like CheapCaribbean and Travelocity for some travel planning inspiration!

It’s important to note that each year, Black Friday sales seem to begin earlier and earlier. Preview sales and early Black Friday deals will begin to reveal themselves around November 1st, and many retailers will turn to their online stores for the earliest deals. If you want to be sure that you will receive your items on time without paying extra fees for expedited shipping, it might be best to take advantage of shopping October and early November deals!

If you need any reference to last year's holiday sales, check out last year's Black Friday 2015 ad scans now and know what to expect from your favorite retailers this year.
