essentials for pinterest-inspired glamping

You may be thinking to yourself, “What in the world is glamping??” Put simply, it’s glamorous camping; no "roughing it" involved. In order to plan the perfect glamping trip - Pinterest-worthy and all - there are a number of essentials you must consider. The biggest decision to make is your shelter, as there are so many options to choose from, including cabins, tree houses, tents, teepees, yurts, campers, and the like. This pretty much just depends on how glamorous you want to go. Once you have your shelter picked out, you’re ready to start planning your other glamping trip must-haves. Here are 5 of the top essentials for a Pinterest-worthy glamping trip.

For all your glamping essentials, head over to our coupon pages for World Market, IKEAMarshalls, and T.J. Maxx to shop the best deals. Just because it's glamorous, doesn't mean it has to cost a fortune!

1. A canopy sitting area.

Who says the only place to sit when camping is in your tent or by the fire? Not me! Glamping calls for an extra sitting area… a sitting room, if you will. The easiest way to create a sitting area for yourself is to simply open the trunk of your vehicle, build a canopy off of it, and lay out a shabby chic blanket underneath. Voila! You’ve created a little sitting area for yourself and your belongings. Make your sitting room extra Pinterest-worthy by adding a basket of fresh fruits, a cooler with a nice array of chilled beverages, and a bunch of freshly picked wildflowers! Oh and when it’s time to go to bed, all you have to do is take your canopy down and close the trunk to keep your food safe from wondering animals. Pretty smart, huh?

2. Lots of pillows and blankets.

A surplus of comfy pillows and blankets are another glamping must-have. Just make sure they’re washable! Not only do these come in handy for extra padding when sitting on logs or rocks by the fire, but they also add a nice Zen touch to your sitting area. They look super cute in the background of your photos too! Remember, your glamping retreat is your sanctuary and should be as relaxing and as glamorous as possible… and plush pillows and soft, comfy blankets are just what you need to create this vibe.

3. A tent entrance.

Your tent is your home, and more importantly, your sleeping quarters for the duration of your trip. Therefore, it’s important to make sure it stays as neat and clean as possible, because surely, nobody likes sleeping on sand or dirt! Just like with your real home, you want your entrance to be neat, clean, organized, and functional. The best way to make this happen is to lay out a woven rug or beach blanket on the outside of your tent, as a sort-of welcome mat. It’s probably a good idea to tuck one side of the blanket or rug underneath the entrance of your tent to prevent dirt from being kicked inside your tent. Having a tent entrance creates a nice, clean place to take off your shoes before turning in for the night. For an extra touch, you could even put a pillow out there to sit on while taking your shoes off!

4. Awesome fire-building skills… or somebody else with them.

In my opinion, sitting by a crackling campfire is one of the most relaxing feelings in the world. The way a good campfire can make you zone out and completely forget about all the stresses of life for a while is almost like a hypnotism. Aside from this amazingly calming feeling, fires also keep you warm, keep the bugs away, and make s’mores possible! Everybody knows that no camping or glamping trip is ever complete without the late-night campfire culinary treat of toasted marshmallow over melted chocolate on a crisp graham cracker! So grab a few of those extra pillows to sit on, make yourself comfy, and toast away!

5. Dance party!

An often overlooked, yet incredibly integral part of a great camping trip is good music for a dance party. Bring a wireless or Bluetooth speaker to get those jams going and keep spirits high. Even in bad weather, music can make everything better, as everyone belts out classics and ends up losing themselves in the music. Don’t forget the selfie stick to take pictures of yourself singing and dancing by the campfire with toasted marshmallow on your cheek!
