It's been over a year since Chipotle introduced a new item to its menu - the last being chorizo - and this time, diners will be getting a new, cheesy option for indulgence. For the past couple months, lucky customers at the New York Chipotle test kitchen have been trying out queso - slathered on burritos, bowls, and tacos, dipped with chips, or whatever their hearts desire. Apparently queso has been highly requested, according to Chipotle's official queso landing page, but they took their time to perfect the recipe. Is it perfection? We haven't tried it yet, so we don't know. But soon we will. On Tuesday, September 12th, Chipotle locations nationwide will be selling queso. It's time to get cheesy.
Although prices will vary based on location, Eater expects them to start around $1.25 to add to an entrée (about the price of adding guac to your order) or $5.25 for a large side order. That's a bit pricier than buying guacamole, but we hope it's worth the extra buck or so. Officially named "Genuine Queso," the ooey gooey dish is gluten free, preservative free, and made with all-natural ingredients that Chipotle claims with all of its food.
Have you tried the Genuine Queso yet? If you have, we're dying to hear your thoughts. We'll definitely be making our way to our nearest Chipotle on September 12th. See you there!
