The answer is yes. Previously, we wrote about the incredible stigma behind credit card debt and the amount of embarrassment and judgement majority of people in America feels when it comes to their own debt. Credit card debt racked up over time may seem nearly impossible to pay off but little steps and preparation comes a long way. The key is to stay patient and commit to some habit changes when it comes to personal expenses. You can check out 6 steps we’ve listed in this article to help you get started (along with multiple other resources).

Most feel embarrassed and judged by loved ones for having credit card debt but what about looking for a partner while having debt? According to the NerdWallet survey, credit card debt has bare tremendous emotional costs too. When it comes to dating, debt is up there with criminal record.

Although dated, a survey on this matter conducted by CreditCards.com back in 2013 found that 70% of women are quick to break it off if their partner if they lied about their financial status. This coincide with the same percentage where women consider it a deal breaker for someone with a criminal history. In contrast, men are found to be more tolerant of a partner with debt with only 37% who consider heavy debt a dating deal breaker.

A more recent study revealed how majority of American feels when it comes to credit card debt within a household and on the dating scene. Check out our infographic below for a breakdown on these stats:

I wanna be the very best like no one ever was. Couponing is my real test, to cut them is my cause. I will travel across the land, searching far and wide. Each store to understand, the discounts that's inside.

These statistics are very interesting. Having debt wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me, as long as she was upfront and honest about it. The most important thing is knowing that debt isn't a good thing and having a plan to get out of debt quickly. If a girl I was interested in dating didn't care that she had debt and wasn't concerned about paying it off, that would be a HUGE red flag for me.
