While there has been a trend this Black Friday for retailers to forego opening on Thanksgiving Day to kick off the start of holiday shopping, Kohl’s certainly isn’t one of them. Kohl’s has decided to give shoppers as much time as possible to cash in on all its savings by opening its doors on Thanksgiving eve and all signs point to the company announcing that it may stay open all the way through to Black Friday evening.

A report by the Milwaukee Business Journal suggests that Kohl’s may have its way and stay open a whopping 30 hours straight as the retailer filed a request to do so for its location in Glendale, WI. This may indicate that it wants to do so at all of its stores and will make an announcement soon to what its hours will be for the full Black Friday holiday shopping. The request for the Glendale store indicated that Kohl’s would operate from 6 pm Thursday to 12 pm Friday for 30 straight hours of savings. We can only hope that it will do so across the U.S., making it as easy as possible to get to the store and save on those deals it always offers.

While we still have to wait, and see what Kohl’s operating hours will be on Black Friday 2016, we do know that it will be opening on Thanksgiving Day at 6 pm at most of its locations. By opening at 6 pm, Kohl's allows shoppers to have Thanksgiving dinner and continue the celebration in the store with the start of the holiday shopping craze.

As one of the few retailers opening on Thanksgiving Day, Kohl’s will have an edge with shoppers’ as they will be limited this year as to what stores will be open. Many retailers and malls have said they will stay closed on Thanksgiving Day, instead waiting to open on Black Friday. Kohl’s has said it wants to give its customers more time to shop and it certainly will be able to do just that if it decides to open all night on Thanksgiving Day into Black Friday.

The 30 hours of continuous operation would mirror the hours that Kohl’s was open for Black Friday 2015 and is sort of expected by its customers that have come to know Kohl’s for having these extended hours when it comes to holiday shopping. Kohl’s has said it will release its hours for Black Friday soon and to date, nothing has been released on its website indicating what its plans are.

With the Kohl’s Black Friday ad already being leaked, we do know that the savings for Black Friday will actually start Monday, Nov. 21 online at kohls.com. This means you don’t have to wait to get some of these deals now and the fun is really kicking off early with Kohl’s.

As always, Kohl’s promises tons of ways to save during Black Friday 2016 as it will have a ton of doorbuster deals as well as Kohl’s Cash. It has amped up its Kohl’s Cash offering for Black Friday 2016 by offering $15 for every $50 spent instead of its traditional $10. This will make for a great way to save on your purchases with the retailer and will give you the opportunity to get even more for your money.

Because you can never shop at Kohl’s without a coupon, the store is also offering a 15% off discount both in-store and online, giving you tons of ways to save on merchandise that will be discounted heavily already. This additional savings is just an added bonus on top of your Kohl’s Cash and its low prices for Black Friday 2016.

Its doorbuster deals will be offered for the first time online as well as in-store starting on Thanksgiving Day at 6 pm through 1 pm on Black Friday. This will be the first time that Kohl’s is offering the doorbuster deals online, giving shoppers access to all the same savings online as they would find in-store.

Plus, you can’t forget your Yes2You rewards that will give you a point for every $1 you spend, earning you a $5 reward for every 1000 points you earn. Stack this with you Kohl’s Cash and you will have plenty to spend on your next shopping trip.

While we aren’t certain exactly what Kohl’s hours will be on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday 2016, we are sure it will open at 6 pm on Thursday, Nov. 24. We’ll have to wait to see if it will announce extended hours through to Black Friday evening. We feel like this will be the case based on past shopping years and expect Kohl’s to take advantage of this opportunity to get shoppers in its doors all through Thanksgiving Day into Black Friday 2016. Stay tuned!

I wish Kohl's were staying closed all day Thanksgiving so families could have a real family day without rush. If I worked there, it would mean missing the family celebration since we have to travel. We all managed for years to do our Christmas shopping after Thanksgiving Day. People generally have a limited budget to spend on the holidays. It eludes me how businesses think that by extending a few more hours will result in much more in total sales. In the end, it all averages out. It used to be that many businesses were open Tues thru Sat. People managed to get their shopping done. Then, Mon closings ended...then Sun...then one holiday after another. All have eroded the family more and more as we have become more and more materialistic. We can be shopaholics a few fewer days in the year without undue suffering.
