If you’ve ever wanted a personal stylist right in your own neighborhood, Nordstrom is here for you. In their latest press release, Nordstrom announced a brand new retail concept and what they hope to be a neighborhood hub, Nordstrom Local. The 3,000 sq. ft. Nordstrom Local offers customers access to personal stylists, alterations and tailoring, in-store pickup for online orders (same-day pick-up available), and more.

This novel idea is Nordstrom tailoring to the new ways people shop. Shea Jensen, Nordstrom’s senior vice president of customer experience, told The Wall Street Journal that “[shopping] today may not always mean going to a store and looking at a vast amount of inventory. It can mean trusting an expert to pick out a selection of items.” We understand where she’s coming from - with services like Stitch Fix, Frank + Oak Elevate, and Nordstrom’s very own Trunk Club offering stylist-picked pieces sent straight to your home, Nordstrom Local is just another version of these subscription services.

When you walk into Nordstrom Local, you’ll be greeted by one styling suite and eight surrounding dressing rooms. You’ll step into a central meeting area where customers can enjoy refreshments (from espressos to juices to alcoholic beverages) and chat with personal stylists. If you like something they recommend, the stylists can have the merchandise brought in for you to purchase. Learn more about the complete list of services available at Nordstrom Local:

  • Personal stylists: Stylists will be available for free to customers who are seeking anything from fashion advice to updating their wardrobe on a specific budget. Appointments can be made online, over the phone, or in person. Stylists and salespersons will also be equipped with Style Boards, which will be used essentially as a Pinterest board for fashion recommendations. Customers will get access to these Style Boards to shop for the items or even speak with a stylist.
