Just this Monday, Costco announced, on their homepage as well as their social media outlets, that the Costco Anywhere Visa card is officially available to use in U.S. and Puerto Rico. We also mentioned how new Citi Visa members can get started with their online account management and how newcomers can join Citi Visa for Costco. However, the week has not even ended yet and Costco is receiving some biting remarks regarding their Citi Visa roll out.

It has been brought to light (via Costco's Facebook) that the Costco Visa launch did not go as smoothly as the warehouse company had hoped. Shoppers are reaching out to Costco via their Facebook page, commenting about the difficulty of activating their new card, billing mishaps, inability to use their Citi Visa card in stores, difficulty registering card online etc. Due to the sheer volume of customers attempting to reach Citi customer service, well, their phone is jammed. If you're one of the many trying to get in touch with their customer service support, you may be in for a long wait.

They're saying there are better Visa cards for Costco purchases... and yes it's true.

There are other visa cards that beat out Costco Citi Visa for Costco purchases and we're not kidding. Although Costco Anywhere Visa has some great cash back offers, there are other Visa cards like Chase Freedom, that can top that cash back offer. Compared to Costco Citi Visa's 4% cash back, Chase Freedom will get you 5% cash back for any amount spent at restaurants, gas stations and wholesale clubs. Plus, this card requires no annual fee and you can start at a lower APR rate of 14.24% (if eligible) compared to Citi Visa's standard 15.49%. Have a Chase Freedom card? Remember to login to your online account to activate your offers every quarter. You must do this in order to qualify for the bonus cash back offers! If you sign up for email updates for your Chase Freedom card (which is also tied to your Chase bank account if you happen to have one), they automatically send you a reminder for every new cash back reward available.

If you're having any of problems with Costco Citi Visa like Sven, Chris or Bill, looks like Costco's only solution is for you to contact their customer service team via email: costcocare@costco.com or visit their online portal at customerservice.costco.com.

At your wit's end and want to explore other warehouse options? Try these:

Online warehouses that require no membership! Easy to shop and free shipping minimum is decent. Also, yes, yes they do have coupon code discounts.

How was your experience with Costco Anywhere Citi Visa card so far?

I wanna be the very best like no one ever was. Couponing is my real test, to cut them is my cause. I will travel across the land, searching far and wide. Each store to understand, the discounts that's inside.

The Citibank Visa actually has better rewards year round, this article seems to be poorly researched. Personally I have had no issues with my new Costco Citibank Visa. It was as easy to activate as any credit card and the online resources are very useful too. APR? Pay it off every month or the rewards are not worth a bucket of warm spit. For me, Costco is still the best.

The article is somewhat misleading...the Chase Freedom card does give 5% back on gas stations and wholesale clubs in certain quarters, but it's only up to a maximum of $1,500 (I believe)...Don't understand why people wouldn't just have both cards and maximize their rewards...I have both cards...also, APR really only matters if you carry a balance...which you really should just not do
