I think we all know that it’s possible to find websites that allow you to download or stream movies for free. The problem, though, is that most of these websites aren’t completely legal. But don’t worry! If you’re looking to stay on the straight and narrow when it comes to watching movies, there are certainly plenty of options for you. Here are 7 of the top places to download or stream movies for free - completely legally!

1. Crackle

Crackle is owned by Sony, so most of the movies offered on here are Sony movies. Many of them are actually pretty popular too; I’m sure you’ve heard of Big Daddy and Rachel Getting Married. If not, there are over 300 other movies and TV shows to choose from, so you can be sure to find something you’ll like on Crackle! You do have to sign up for an account with Crackle, but it’s totally and completely free as long as you’re willing to watch advertisements and commercials on occasion. In addition, some of the movies and shows have limited time on Crackle, so be sure to take note of any ‘expiration dates’ listed.

2. Hulu

Hulu is definitely one of the most popular choices for movies and TV, as it offers hundreds of movies, as well as hundreds of newly aired TV shows. Hulu is supported by advertisements, and the only way to get around this is to sign up with a paid Hulu Plus account for $7.99 per month (this paid account also allows you access to a greater selection of movies and TV shows). If you don’t mind the ads, though, Hulu is totally free!

3. Amazon Instant Video

Amazon Instant Video is another option for streaming movies and TV shows that’s quickly becoming very popular as well. The amount of free movies that Amazon offers is a bit more limited than the previous two options, but there are ways to ‘unlock’ more if you’re willing to pay. Individual movies and shows can be purchased for a small price, or you can sign up for an Amazon Prime account for $79 per year and get a ton more movie and TV options on any of your devices.

4. YouTube

If we’re talking about watching anything online, it would be remiss not to mention YouTube. This platform offers a great deal more than just hacks and cute cat videos. Youtube is the latest to offer a paid subscription program (YouTube Red), in which recently released movies and shows can be streamed on your computer, tablet, or smartphone, and they just introduced live streaming on their mobile app. While many YouTube originals can still be viewed for free, many are quickly becoming part of the Red banner. Either way, YouTube or YouTube Red both offer a wide array of entertaining shows and movies. The even offer you an option to subscribe to channels which will then notify you when new content is added.

5. PopcornFlix

Source: Google Play

PopcornFlix is catchy, memorable, and fun. Cult classics 101. This is a free site with a decently sized movie selection, covering a wide variety of genres. Whether you prefer the classics like Stephen King’s Thinner, comedy classics like The Burbs, or newer favorites like the original Paranormal Activity, PopcornFlix has it all! The best part? It’s free! No email sign-up or monthly fees or anything! The only downside is that the selection seems to be a little dated. But if you don’t need the freshest of fresh and you’re not willing pay to watch your favorites, PopcornFlix is perfect for you!

6. Classic Cinema Online

Remember back in the day when life was much simpler and the Lone Ranger would ride in and save the day just like that? If so, Classic Cinema Online might be just what you’re looking for. This site offers classics in categories that are easy to browse, including animated classics, black and white films, and even silent films dating all the way back to the 1930’s. Although the selection from Classic Cinema Online is pretty limited with the paid-services buying the rights to everything, it is still free!

7. Watch32

Watch32 is a relatively new streaming service with movies and TV series right at your fingertips. There is no set-up to download, nothing to pay for, and no logins. You simply browse or search for the movie or TV show that you want to watch, click play, and enjoy. Not everything on the site is exactly HD-quality, but I guess you get what you pay for! Even some of the most recent cinema releases can often be found on Watch32 for free.
