Target announced awhile back that their Cartwheel perks app will come to an end as they work to integrate Cartwheel into their main Target app. Well, it’s happened! The Cartwheel and Target app have officially merged, granting many eager shoppers the convenience of accessing their perks in one central app. Existing Target app users can update their app to obtain the latest version with Cartwheel. Those who do not have the Target app can find it in your Google Play Store or Apple App Store--it will be listed as “Target--now with Cartwheel”. (You can also find their app download page at Target.com).
Who doesn't love going on Target runs? Don't miss out on savings with our Target coupons & deals!
In a recent press release, Andrew Weisbecker, Senior Director of apps and digital strategy at Target, all Target shoppers will be able to access their favorite Cartwheel features, “like the ability to find deals at their store, redeem savings with one barcode scan and watch their lifetime savings soar…” and much more with the newly merged app.
For those with a Target account, you can simply log in to your Target app and start reaping the benefits. Those who signed up for Cartwheel using a social media account will have to move your account to a Target.com account so ensure all your savings, lists, and history carries over to the Target app. Additionally, you can just sign up for a new Target.com account if you don’t necessarily care for the item lists and history in your Cartwheel app.
This is great news as the holidays are fast approaching and Target has been known to dish out in store discounts during Black Friday week via their Cartwheel app. Last year, some pre-Black Friday prices are available in stores exclusively for Cartwheel app users so be sure to install your Target app for special holiday savings this year! Savings are especially great for those shopping for toys, games, and electronics. Last year, Target also offered 50% off a new toy deal every day throughout the holiday season starting as early as the end of October. With the launch of their merged app, we expect similar deals and even more accessible savings on the Target app.
So what’s next for Target? Mobile payments. Big box retailers like Walmart and Kohl’s have launched their own in store payment features where you can easily checkout and rack up rewards with your app. Recode first reported earlier this year that this is definitely in the works for Target. Michael McNamara, Target’s Chief Information and Digital Officer revealed to Recode that Target will be bringing mobile payments to their main app either later this year or early 2018. However, mobile payments would only be available to Target REDcard shoppers at the time of launch. Both Target REDcard debit or credit card holders get an additional 5% off with free shipping no minimum on all online orders every day--a handy discount if you’re planning on shopping holiday items at Target this year.
