The month of June marks the official start to summer. With graduations, weddings, and Father’s Day to buy for, this month can become quite expensive! Luckily, with the hot temperatures quickly approaching, the hot deals are rolling in as well! From lingerie to power tools, June is filled with a variety of must-have deals. Unfortunately, there are also many items that you should probably avoid buying during this time to save yourself some bucks, like outdoor furniture and air conditioners. As a quick and easy guide, here are some of the best items to buy and the best items to skip during the month of June in order to get the most out of your budget this summer.

1. Dishware & other kitchen gadgets

With wedding and graduation season in full bloom, you can be sure to find plenty of dishware deals in June. You can even count on finding other useful kitchen gadgets on sale too! Most kitchen gear companies are cutting prices for all those trying to find that perfect gift for the newlywed couple or the recent graduate getting ready to away to college. Money-saving research shows that you can expect to save about 30-35% on dishware and kitchen gadgets during the month of June, so happy gift-shopping!

2. Lingerie

As mentioned last month, June is a prime time for lingerie purchases, and this is primarily because of the Victoria’s Secret Semi-Annual Sale that occurs this month. This humongous sale typically takes anywhere from 50-70% off of a variety of lingerie items, and normally lasts about three or four weeks, with the deals improving as time goes on. While the Victoria’s Secret Semi-Annual Sale offers the widest variety of discounted items, and is probably the most popular lingerie sale, it is certainly not the only retailer to offer appealing lingerie deals this month. A number of other stores, including Target, Sears, Frederick’s of Hollywood and Aerie (by American Eagle) typically offer awesome discounts on lingerie, as well!

3. Gym memberships & exercise equipment

Seeing as everyone has given up on their New Year’s resolutions and most people would rather be outside enjoying the nice weather, summer isn’t the best time for gyms, which means you should be taking advantage of this! In other words, June is an excellent time for you to hop on the fitness train and sign yourself up for a gym membership. Or if you’d rather build a home-gym, that’s okay too! You can find plenty of discounted gym equipment during the month of June as well!

4. Power tools

This one might sound a little weird, but if you think about it, it makes perfect sense with Father’s Day just around the corner! Whether you’re buying for dad or not, take advantage of this month to stock up on those power tools you’ve been meaning to get for months. Stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot are known to give up to a 25% discount on select power tools during the month of June.

Don't forget to browse Home Depot coupons!

1. Grills

Although June is probably the first time you’re going to want to have a backyard BBQ, it’s the absolute worst time to go out and buy a new grill for it. Understandably, grills are in high demand at the beginning of summer, making companies more likely to hike up those prices. Your best bet is to wait until the end of summer to purchase a new grill for the following summer. Waiting until August or September could save you up to 50%!

2. Apple products

Apple holds its annual developer's conference in June, meaning items are likely to be updated and refreshed in the months to follow. Imagine buying a new iPhone or iMac this month, and then finding out that Apple was releasing a brand new one next month? You’d be kicking yourself! If you’re someone who wants the latest and the greatest, wait until August or September when the new products are on the market. Even if you’re not one to keep up with the Jones’, it’s still best to hold off until August or September to buy your upgraded gadgets when you can get awesome deals on the previous generation models.

Make your purchase more affordable with Apple Store coupons.

3. Patio furniture

Similar to the grill situation, this is probably the first time you’re going to wish you had some nice new patio furniture to enjoy the nice weather on; and unfortunately, this is the worst time to go out and buy it. Patio furniture is in high demand at the beginning of the summer, so don’t expect any price drops here. Try and wait until July or August to purchase your outdoor patio furniture. You can expect about a 30-35% discount in July, and then a 45-50% discount in August.

4. Air conditioners and fans

Finding this summer to be a little hot? Well, you probably should have prepared for that a little bit earlier in the game. Waiting until June to purchase your air conditioner or fan is not the greatest idea. From single-room air conditioners to house-wide systems, you won’t find many deals on items like these in June. The same is true of fans, including desk fans, standing fans, ceiling fans, and the like. Unfortunately, the big savings on air-cooling products aren’t likely to begin until the air is actually cooler. Keep an eye out for these items in September, when everybody is having their Labor Day sales!
