Fashion is subjective. Fashion is unique. Fashion is unpredictable. However, I don't think I'm reaching too far when I say this past week in fashion has got us scratching our heads and wondering why. I present two exhibits.
Look familiar? Yes, because it is essentially a replica of IKEA's FRAKTA bag, which sells for only $0.99 compared to its counterpart which retails at a whopping $2,145. This high-fashion debut is so comical that even IKEA saw the opportunity to make a few stabs at Balenciaga. We love some of the points they make - "1) Shake it. If it rustles, it's the real deal." and "5) Look inside. The original has an authentic IKEA tag." As we're always out hunting for a great deal, we have to go with IKEA on this one. Sorry, Balenciaga.
Remember when you were a kid and your mom got furious after another maniac episode of rough play that resulted in mud-stained jeans? Well, it's time to relive your childhood; except now there is a $425 price tag. Nordstrom - we expected more from you - is selling this pair of denim for a hefty price, and here's how they described it:
Heavily distressed medium-blue denim jeans in a comfortable straight-leg fit embody rugged, Americana workwear that's seen some hard-working action with a crackled, caked-on muddy coating that shows you're not afraid to get down and dirty.
Question - It's supposed to show that you're not afraid to get down and dirty, but you had to go buy a pair of $425, fake-mud-stained denim to prove it? Makes sense.
