You may use Amazon to buy pet food, shampoo, electronics, books, toys, linens, clothes and other goods. What about food? Many people have concerns about buying food online. That’s because food can spoil. What if you receive food that is past its expiration date or otherwise defective?

While it’s a possibility, it’s not likely. Amazon stands behind the products it sells and if you ever experience a problem, you can always contact customer service and they’ll make it right. In most cases, you won’t even have to return the product.

There are thousands of food products available on Amazon. While Amazon does have excellent prices in general, they may not be better than the prices at your local grocery store. In addition, you may have to pay shipping costs, which can increase your cost even more.

However, there are some ways to cut your costs and make shopping on Amazon Grocery a worthwhile experience:

  • Sign up for the Amazon.com Visa credit card. This card gives you $30 back off your purchase, plus 3% in Amazon credits every time you use that card to make a purchase at Amazon.com.

  • Use “Subscribe & Save.” Schedule automatic purchases on the items you use all the time and you’ll save an extra 15-20%.

  • Look for coupons. Keep an eye out for Amazon Grocery coupons, which can save $10 or more off your total when you spend a minimum amount.

So now that you know how to save money on your Amazon Grocery food purchases, here are some foods that you’ll find are a great deal on Amazon.

You can save even more with Subscribe & Save, but seriously – how many people need a tub of Pepperidge Farm cookies on a regular basis?

While Amazon does have the best selection of goods on the Internet, do some research first before adding food to your cart and checking out. Find out how much you would pay at your local grocery store, keeping in mind any store coupons or loyalty rewards you could use. When you order from Amazon, there is shipping time to deal with, and even shipping fees in some cases. Sometimes the shipping charges are more than the product itself, so keep that in mind. But if you can find lower prices on Amazon with no shipping costs, plus a Subscribe & Save discount, you’ve scored big time!
