Want to share a photo with some people but not the whole world? You can use Instagram Direct, which allows you to share a photo with up to 15 people. They can comment on the photo, but it won’t show up in search results. To use this feature, go to the Share To page, which is located at the top next to Followers. Choose Direct, then select the recipients by clicking the circle next to their names. Alternately, you can type their names on the To: line. Finally, click send and you’re good to go.

3. Ignore people.

Tired of seeing new posts every five minutes from certain people? We all have those friends who want to share everything when everyone, and you may get to the point where if you see one more photo of your friend’s dessert, you’ll lose it. It would be rude to block your friend completely, but if you want to simply ignore her messages, you can do so with this trick. Go to the user's profile page, and tap the three dots at the top right. Select “Turn Off Post Notifications” to stop seeing their new posts. Of course, you can only turn them off if they are on initially.

4. Link to social media accounts.

Get the most out of Instagram by connecting it to your social media accounts. There are a number of accounts you can link it to, but the most popular ones are Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and Tumblr. To start linking, go to Profile, Linked Accounts, and then Share Settings. You’ll be prompted to choose which accounts you want to link to. You don’t have to share your photos on every site every time. When you upload a photo, you’ll be asked to select the accounts to which you want the image to link. If you want to share the photo on Instagram only, that’s fine as well.

5. Hide/remove tagged photos.
