With Black Friday coming up and Amazon continuously on the rise with new services and partnerships, Walmart has found another source for a competitive edge. Beginning in early November, Walmart will be offering its new Mobile Express Returns service to simplify in-store returns of online purchases by allowing customers to initiate a return in the Walmart app before heading to the store. To make things more convenient, Walmart stores will have a designated Mobile Express lane in the customer service area. Once there, the customer will simply scan the QR code on their phone and give the return package to the Walmart associate to complete the return.
This service is only eligible on items sold and shipped by Walmart.com and will extend to store purchases in early 2018. The main goal in this new app feature is to make returns fast and easy - Walmart expects the entire process to take about 30 seconds. Moreover, refunds will be credited to the customer's payment method as early as the next day, and starting in December, select household items qualify for instant refunds without even going to the store. According to Walmart, 90% of Americans live within 10 miles of a Walmart store, so returns have never been easier than now.
We appreciate all the effort Walmart is exerting into simplifying and quickening up the return process for their customers. It seems as though this feature is still in its early stages as Walmart anticipates implementing more novel ideas to make it an even more beneficial, time-saving tool.
