Amazon is gearing up for their Prime Day sale starting next week and among the bevy of Black Friday-style deals and discounts, Amazon also typically offer a promotional reward or discount credit to be used when you opt for “FREE No-Rush Shipping” at checkout. Especially for their Prime Day sale, Amazon is amping up the offer and will include a little extra something for those who opt for standard ground shipping, a great incentive for those in no rush to get their items. This is also a smart move on Amazon’s part to moderate their shipping capacity during their biggest sale of the year.
Well, guess who caught on? Walmart recently updated their shipping policy to include a shipping discount. According to their Shipping Discount page, “Here's how Shipping Discount works, during checkout you can opt for a slower shipping method on eligible items. If you opt for a slower shipping method the discount will be reflected as a Shipping Discount on your order.”
While Amazon offers their “FREE No-Rush Shipping” options on millions of items, Walmart’s Shipping Discount selection seems to be more limited. We’ve attempted to search for this Shipping Discount at checkout but to no avail. However, the next best option for those still looking to shave off a few dollars at checkout is to shop and opt for Walmart’s Pickup Discount. Final verdict? Amazon wins at this. (For now). Walmart will hopefully expand their latest Shipping Discount for more items across the site and we expect that to happen soon with the busy holiday season looming.
